I just found a Norinco SKS at a local shop. $369 for it. It's clean, no bayonet or grenage launcher. It has a 20 round clip (metal). I've heard that the after market clips don't work near as well??
Any input or experience with the weapon and the clip issue?
Sound like a good buy?
Thanks...

If the magazine is a steel one with a star on it, and the rifle is in very good to excellent condition, it's a good deal considering the current market.

Sounds like a Norinco Sporter- i.e. produced for export and sale- not a C&R item. The SKS with a grenade launcher and bayonet it a decomissioned Yugoslavian military rifle. The one mentioned in your post is Chinese.

Norinco SKS 5 or 6 months ago were going for around. $200.00 in excellent condition with bayonet, but times have changed. The Chinese removed the bayonet and modified some to import into the US they are the only SKS that I know of that are not C&R.It’s a hit or miss with the metal high cap mags mostly misses. TAPCO makes Mags that are reported to be very good.

Norincos are not bad SKS but I wouldn’t pay that much for one.

At one time the Chinese-made 20 round steel mags were sold as an accessory for the SKS. They could be fitted to an SKS by removing the 10 round standard mag and putting the 20 round mag in place. There was little or no alteration of the stock necessary. I personally fit two or three to SKS rifles I owned and they worked beautifully.
