What gets better ballistics out of a shorter barrel for the 9MM caliber? Anyone have a suggestion for my carry ammo for my Taurus PT111 Pro?

The 147gr bullets loose a lower percentage of velocity in shorter barrels than the lighter rounds, still over 900 fps. Do a Google search and you can find some test and opinions.

You don't lose as much velocity from lighter bullets (ie 9mm) as you would from heavier ones (ie .45acp). Get any high-quality JHP ammo of your preference and you'll be fine.

I like Federal HST or Speer Gold Dots. 124gr is my favorite for 9mm.

i know there are GOLD DOTS specifically for short barrels that are designed to open up properly at the lower velocities.
I keep them in my J frame, i also believe there is a 9mm flavor also, but since i have no 9's under 3.5" i have no experience with them.

My fathers a LEO and he carrys the golden sabers in his backup 5906... i was planning on trying them i am just trying to get away from the 115 grain rounds...shot silvertips out of my 92fs and didnt like them....ANY suggestions from hornady shooters besides the tap rounds? Ive tried XTP's for my 10MM and my buddys makarov and liked there preformance

I personally love the Federal HST 147+P load, the 147 loads lose less velocity out of shorter barrels than lighter loads, and the 147 loads are already designed with a lower velocity window to open up in. HST is a great bullet design as well.

I use Cor-bon 115 gr +P JHP in my P2000SK. It's a pretty hot load at 1350 feet per second out of a 4 inch barrel. My P2000SK's barrel is 3/4" shorter, but has polygonal rifling, so the velocity loss is insignificant. This load also gives adequate penetration and superior expansion.
