From the latest NSSF Bullet Points e-mail.

Top 10 days for NICS checks in the past 10 years.

What was intersting to me was the huge spike after Thanksgiving and only a usual number before Christmas Eve.

I'm a little surprised there were no days in Sept/Oct 2001 on the list. I recall seeing a similar buying frenzy depicted in the media to what we have going on now.

that's just a flyer, nothing to see here

Yeah, jeepmor, when I shoot a really good group, I often think that my flyer was completely off target, so the fifth hole which ideally enters somewhere inside the third and second holes really never hit the paper.

November 28, 2008 was "Black Friday" this year. Maybe we should rename the busiest shopping day of the year. Maybe call it "EBR Friday."

Clearly this is a case of people that were doing some early Christmas shopping. Nothing unusual in that.

But if those high numbers continued through December and January...

PS: I copied the chart. Need to include it with letters to certain legislators... ;)

Interesting that most of the top days for NICS checks are in the last shopping days before Christmas. Straw purchases, I presume.

I see Y2K still is on the charts. That thing was indirectly responsible for quite a few deaths up here. People bought generators for Y2K, stored them for years, then broke them out for whichever ice storm next interrupted their power. Untrained in their use, they ran them in basements and garages, and asphyxiated themselves.

Just about every sporting goods store put guns on sale that day. Combine that with the Obamanation and you get PROFIT (for gun sellers anyways).

I think Barack Obama has to be the most successful firearms salesman in United States history, maybe world history.

By "salesman", I mean he has convinced hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of people to purchase firearms and ammunition. No advertising campaign could have been as successful as his election to the presidency.
