Semi-Auto Uzis

I'm honestly not a fan of open bolt designs like the Uzi. The risk of a catastrophic misfeed is just too high. I don't like the idea of loading and firing with the same action because too many things can go wrong that can seriously injure the shooter.

i own an action arms uzi semi , it fires from a closed bolt and will feed any kind of ammo . lots of fun at the range .

You do know the semi-auto Uzi fires from a closed bolt?

I have one and I like it. I mostly use it for matches where rifles aren't allowed. 9mmP is still cheaper than either 5.56 NATO or 7.62x39. The Uzi is also a great training tool for new shooters. A 8lb 9mm weapon just doesn't have any recoil to speak of, while the stock and decent sights allow learning the basics.

A lot of the guys I shoot with use 9mm ARs. The Uzi has some advantages over the AR: 1) Telescoped bolt allows for a smaller overall package. 2) Weapons was designed for 9mm and isn't a kludge. 3) Magazines are still cheap and available.

Big disadvantage to the Uzi is that there is no good way to mount optics. Kinda like the SKS, it is what it is. OTOH, with the stock sights I can get 4MOA out of it and have used the 200m sight to hit 12" steel plate at 200 yards. BSW

Yes there is a way to mount optics. I mount picatinny rails on them where you can put or use any type of red dot sight or scope. They are very fast on target aquistion, LOW recoil equals fast follow up shots and very accurate. using something like the Burris fastfire sight. I can make head shots at 100 meters with mine, steel plates at 50 yards are no challenge. They are great to shoot, ammo is still cheap, 100 rounds at Walmart for $21 plus I reload. The optics option really sets it off. I carry mine in the truck all of the time with 4 32 round magazines, plus my Glock. I was carrying a Ruger mini 14 or 30 but the Uzi fits on the rear floorboard easier, quick to pick up if need be.

I love my IMI action arms uzi. Certainly the simplest weapon I have ever seen to disassemble.

I've always wanted an Uzi. I had a Nornico for a short time but had some problems with it. The next time around I swore I'd get an IMI and I did and I couldn't be happier with it. I've only been out with it twice but I've put almost 400 rounds through it and not a single malfunction so far.

I got the Uzi model 45 which comes in .45ACP but it also came with the 9mm conversion kit which makes it a good bit cheaper to shoot.

Fun is enough of a reason for me to buy one

I picked up my Action Arms Uzi a few months ago and I love it. I finally got to do some real range time recently and I was impressed with the 9mm accuracy out to 100 yards. I was tearing the bull out of the target at 50 yards and was hitting the swinging 4" steel targets at 100 yards with great regularity.
With the .45acp kit installed it also shot very reliably but accuracy was not near as good as 9mm. I still wouldn't want to have someone shooting at me with it at 50 yards.
Reliablity with either caliber was great and change out from .45acp to 9mm only takes about 30-45 seconds.
I am currently working on some different top covers with different optics set ups. I have one plain, one with a 4x scope and one I am building with a Burris fast fire mounted low on the top cover to co-wittness with the iron sights.

My Vector is sweet. Glad I got it when I did. I paid $600 for it new a year or two back, and now I'm seeing them at $1700 plus. It came with a folding stock. I picked up a beat up Israeli detachable wood stock and had the hardware Parked and converted to make the stock legal. I did the wood refinishing. The barrel shown is a dummy.

I haven't shot a semi-auto UZI but I have had some experience with an open-bolt full-auto UZI that has been quite favorable. The design seems very durable, is very controllable even in FA, and it seems to plenty accurate enough. Although I am sure the closed-bolt semi-autos are even more accurate.

I would very much like a Semi UZI with a short 10" barrel but the price is a bit of a hinderance. A rig like this would cost $6-800 a year ago and probably over $1,000 these days. No sir, for that money I couldn't justify it. Espeacially since I already have a $300 KT Sub-2000 9mm rifle that takes standard Glock magazines. It does everything a semi-auto UZI can do and is a 4 MOA rifle with good ammo. The only thing the UZI has over the Sub-2000 is durability IMHO. Granted I would much rather take the UZI to war rather than the KT but, I would rather take my AK-47 then any 9mm rifle. For my needs and probably MOST people, the KT serves the roll of a 9mm rifle as good or better than any semi UZI would. I use mine for plinking, practice, and as a compact bug out gun for SHTF.

But if you got the cheddar and the interest then go ahead and get the UZI, I probably would too. Just don't expect to out shoot me and my sub with it if you see me at the range!

I just bought a group Uzi in january with a 45acp conversion kit, and I'm loving it. I was luck to find a great deal on 32rd mags for it from CTD 3 mags a sling and a mag pouch for forty bucks, I took full advantage of that.

Thanks, that is an aftermarket part I added. As I said above too the top covers are cheap and if you are creative there are lots of optics options out there to add on. Once I finish the FastFire mount I'll start wroking on a low mount top cover for and Eotech.

The IMI model B's are extremely fun, very accurate for a long ways, reliable as a rock, easy to get parts/mags for, and simple as hell to clean and maintain. I did try a .22 conversion without much luck, but never really tried to figure out why it fed so poorly.

Never have more than handled a Norinco version, but see no reason why it would not work well too. My blasting load of choice was 115 grain Winchester FMJ's atop 7 grains of HS-6. This load clocked 1350-1400 fps-ish speeds, and was 100% reliable.

If you want a small 9mm carbine and hi-cap mags you could consider the SUB-2000. With the glock mag model you can easily find 33 round mags that are perfectly reliable.
