Please tell me where I can get it, and what the cost of such a policy is.

Its called an umbrella liability policy, call your homeowner's or auto carrier.
Unless it specifically excludes any liability arising from the use of a firearm, (never saw that in an umbrella policy) it will provide the coverage in the bill which says willful or negligent acts (not Criminal acts). It doesnt just cover a shooting but anything you may do and be sued for. If you drive a car, or do anything dangerous like walk outside, you should have an umbrella policy.

Please note I DO NOT SUPPORT THE LAW WHICH WILL NOT PASS ANYWAY.

Can you still get those umbrella policies?

We had one of those, and after my sister got a severe traumatic brain-injury in an auto-accident, we got it in the form of a trust for her, which she'll live on for the rest of her life, and has used for lots of very productive rehab. If we hadn't had that policy, believe me when I say it, we would have been in a world of hurt that you really can't imagine without having seen other people stuck in it--whatever it costs (and I was surprised at how little it had cost us monthly), it's worth it not to end up needing it and not having it, which should make sense to all you concealed-carry types. I'll get one of those policies even earlier than I'll get a mortgage.

So you admit that umbrella policies do not cover willful criminal acts. I know mine doesn't either as explained by my agent. The bill as proposed does not exclude willful criminal acts, and therefore by default willful criminal acts would need to be covered. I'm still looking for an insurance company that would insure all criminal acts with my gun, please let me know if you've found one as I would like to see how much it would cost.

how about a law that requires politicians to have a 10 million insurance policy to protect the public from their dishonesty, greed, sexual misconduct, sending innocent young men & women into combat because of invisable weapons of mass detruction???????

Umbrella Policies

FYI, I have an umbrella policy through Allstate, kind of an umbrella over my homeowners insurance.

I have a dog that's not good around little kids about 10% of the time. Twice in the last 15 years, she bit a small kid and we got sued for plastic surgery/reconstructive surgery costs both times ($7000 the first time, $14,000 the second time).

The city police have her legally registered as a "dangerous animal" and that's why I had to get the policy.

The policy covers us for $1 Million additional over our homeowners insurance. The monthly bill for this umbrella policy is $48.00

NOT THAT I AGREE IN ANY WAY with the idea of gun owners being required to get insurance policies, no matter how little or how much it costs...
