NPR... ? Well bless their little pointed little heads. :neener:

But I believe there are some that actually believe what they hear. :barf: :banghead:

Right, that is why walmarts accross the country have been stripped from ammo, none of which the cartels would want to pay for. It is a shame that some people will listen to it.

Just heard it on NPR:

"Nationwide ammunition shortage due to Mexican drug traffickers stocking up to fend off government troops and rival gangs."

I believe they are just setting the stage for the first round of 2nd amendment attacks... Just like Attorney General Eric Holder did when he made the comment seeking to reinstate the AWB.

They're simply using the Mexico situation as an excuse.

With our upcoming bans, I suppose the Mexican drug traffickers will switch from selling drugs to ammo. LOL..

Does anyone have a link to this from NPR? I know they can be a bunch of Cartoons but seriously????

Maybe it's just us normal dopes buying ammo for our guns that's causing it combined with all the new gun owners in the past few months.

I presume that the source for all of this is .gov :banghead:

I wonder if we are about to get a new set of regulations printed up in the Federal Register that will yet again define what is O.K. in the way of guns and ammunition classified to be “for sporting purposes." This shouldn't affect domestic companies, but could put a big dent in foreign imports.

Their battle cry used to be, "It's for the children!" Now it may be, "It's for the Mexicans."

Have they started buying brass yet? I got 6k LC cases for 5.00 ea. :D:D:D

Yeah, I am sure the shortages of .22 Hornet, .22/250, and .243 ammo are due to the drug cartels snapping this stuff up for all their assault rifles in these calibers too!

Why won't the Mexican Government provide the serial numbers of the seized firearms to the BATFE?
Maybe because those weapons are coming from Mexican government stock perhaps,,,

NPR may lean to the left but they are FAR less biased than any of the squawking right-wing-nuts on the radio these days...

That said, shame on NPR for making this conjecture.

I don't listen to them, either. :)

I found this quote from the NPR print piece interesting:

<thread drift>

The weapons and ammunition are being bought on the black market and at gun shows, but mostly from licensed dealers. Arizona and Texas make it especially easy to buy guns retail. Basically, any adult with a valid ID and no criminal record can buy as many as he or she wants.

Form 44-73 is a five-page document the federal government uses to screen purchases. It's a felony to lie on the form, but it's also illegal to buy a gun for someone else. And that's what happens: Smugglers hire people to make straw purchases
Essentially, they're bypassing the 'gun show loophole' and pointing out that the issue is straw purchases. This is the angle used to advocate for a weapons ban, since control of the point-of-sale clearly isn't giving them their desired results....

And that is more restrictions than the Constitution allows, so what's the problem?
