Sick of Airsoft

Airsoft is great for tactical training ie force on force.

that is what simunitions are for.
plus, you have the added level of pain, making damn sure that none of your guys will take it lightly beeing shot.
you can observe training with lasers, airsoft and simunition, the first two often end in fun'n'joy, while the last tends to be mutch closers to reality.

Google search tip:

If you want to EXCLUDE something from a Google search, include the term preceded by a minus sign. If it is a phrase, put it in quotes.

If you find that your search on

"Sig P226"

brought up a bunch of Airsoft stuff, repeat the search as

"Sig P226" -airsoft

and it will omit any pages with the word "airsoft" in them.

Good to Know!!!!

It can be irritating to find nothing but airsoft stuff when you are looking for real firearm parts. But on the other hand, they're great for having fun with friends. Nothing teaches "moving while shooting" like getting hit by about a dozen airsoft pellets going 3-400 FPS when you stop to shoot. Paintball's good for that too.

For one of my pistols I bought a nylon holster made for an Airsoft pistol. I can't tell the difference from that and one made for a real gun.

In Maine, if you point your Airsoft toy at me in traffic, you legally will be disassembled.

Now consider again whether you really want that thing in your car. Your home. Your life.

If you really like guns, you will like anything gun like.... many airsoft accessories can actually be used on real pieces and vice versa. Rail covers, rails, handles etc.... flip up sights..........

I just found out an old carry handle i had stashed years ago.. Fits my RRA flat top perfectly. I saved 180$ or whatever they want for the handle for the "real" steel. Common sense > fear.

And i see no point in laughing at the british for enjoying their deactivated toys or whatever you prefer to call them. They do with what they can. I see no reason to put anybody down for enjoying this hobby, in whatever way their age and region permits them.

I say more power to everybody who likes guns, in any shape.

Try to find legit MP5 parts instead of 200 sites devoted to airsoft stuff. ;(

Even with the -airsoft tag it gets stupid.

Heck, I had trouble researching optics for my AR last fall when I finally bit the bullet and got one, for all the toy clutter. This country seriously has to reassess the concept of "allowance." More and more, I feel the urge to take a teenager behind the tavern and perform a dental tune-up.

even if it is airsoft, you have to admit this thing is cool...

Hell, slug gets there first before that thing finishes spooling up. On second thought, Im gone. No way the house can sustain that kind of firepower. Notice he's not packing sufficient ammo for more than a flatuent burp out of that thing LOL.

I exclude airsoft results and :scrutiny: EVERYTHING else to be certain that is made for real guns that go boom.

I can only let God judge the moron who whips out a realistic toy gun in my area.

Air soft should be like Americas second hobby, next to guns. I am a big air soft lover, despite not having the money to indulge. Some air soft stuff can be used on real guns because its meant for real guns! I have a ABS vert grip that works just fine on a real gun, Magpul is really popular if you have the money, they even have air soft Pmags. Air soft can be used to teach how to use weapons in basic principal and is great fro CQB training.

What annoys me even more than finding airsoft instead of firearms, is when people say "real steel"

grrrrr.....

novaDAK -

The really funny part about it is that both words have double spellings with the same vowel replacements.

real, reel, steal, steel.

So if you're a fishing guy, you can get a real steal on a steel reel, if you know how to deal ;)

It's almost as fun as the "muzzle brake" spelled "muzzle break."

I think I'll stick to poker, pool and ponies.

It may look like it, it may attach like it, but it doesn't take recoil or other abuse like it.

Okay, I'm going to send you a dry cleaning bill for all the coffee I'll need to have removed from my shirt.

AIRSOFT PMAGS!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!

Thats why I cant find them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me that Magpul has not gone soft,,, Airsoft.....;)

maksim: "have been outof the hobby, but has airsoft taken over for paintball?"

Sort of. Paintball is still around, not that I've ever participated in either. It's image declined over the years; the guns are too goofy/geeky looking, and coming in from the range covered in yellow paint isn't very dignified or tacticool. The mall ninjas find the airsoft guns more appealing, and feel tougher being able to take a real .177 to the groin without running home to mama.

Then there was the enhanced public nuisance from the paintballs flying into downtown crowds from moving vehicles, sometimes occasioning return fire with actual weapons.

I hate airsoft AND paintball.

Why Hate?

I don't get it? I enjoy shooting for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is shooting for accuracy and quick draw. Both of those can be done cheaper, quieter, and safer with airsoft. Those, and many other skillsets carry over to real guns.

It shouldn't be airsoft vs. real guns or paintball vs. real guns or BB/pellet guns vs. real guns.

As far as I'm concerned, they're all shooting sports, and they're all fun.

Try it, you may like it.

Just don't confuse paintball or airsoft for defensive weapons. They're for fun only.

I don't like blurred lines between casual fun and games and something involving such stark, serious reality as firearms. I also don't like making a game like that out of combat; I also dislike the so-called "first person shooter" computer games for the same reason. I have no problem with more abstract combat simulation games.

I don't have a problem with the guns themselves, so much. I mean, I disapprove of toy guns in general, but I don't hate them. Their proper sphere in my world is at the gun range, shot just like a gun. My daughter has a Red Ryder BB gun, and before she graduated to .22 rifles, she shot her BB with eye and ear protection at the rifle range. We treated it as a weapon just like my SAR-1 or Mauser rifles, and she enjoyed it more, not less, for the seriousness with which we handled it and the responsibility she knew I had entrusted to her. We most assuredly did not run around in the woods, shooting it at people.

Softair and paintball games run against the grain of everything I believe about firearms and combat. That's why I hate them.
