Smallest .45

Here's a fairly small .45, but not made anymore.
The Semmerling is a bit pricy but it's a fascinating little pistol. I found this one on gunbroker, don't know why they can call it a derringer though!

I sold my Kahr KP45 simply because I could not stand the trigger. No so much pulling the trigger, but the reset. I found I had to remove my finger from the trigger entirely to get a reliable 2nd shot.

The thing was amazingly light, about the same size as a j-frame and SCARY accurate.

I ended up with a S&W 4513. A bit bigger and heavier, but it just works for me.

Love my k9 and PM9 and I canj't say I have ever had one issue like you described. I shoot it the same was as my G19 and Smith M & P 9.--Humm

Not the smallist, but probably one of the most reliabile is the Colt Defender in .45 ACP at 22.5 ozs. You can't go wrong with a Colt!

After having my Colt's Officer's ACP for a number of years, I finally aquired my Defender. I have found that the frame on of the Defender is a match the for a Officer's. The trigger, sear, disconnector, sear spring, hammer, and the magazine catch is no different what would find with all Colt full size 1911. The mainspring housing is the same as the Officer's. The only difference in the Defender is barrel length, Slide, and Recoil Springs.

Couple reason 1) Springfield Micro Compact, 2) G36 and 3) trigger. The Springer and G36 are much more reliable than the P45 was. I really didn't like the trigger especially the long reset. I could shoot it well, but the quality just seemed to be lacking for the price. My Springer and G36 will run circles around the P45. YMMV

My 36 rides comfortably and shoots when I pull the trigger. Yes, the bullet usually goes near where I want it to. I like it.

I am gonna have to second the Millenium and the Kahr... both great little guns...and are remarkably controlable as well...

I had both the defender and the Springfield Microcompact loaded for a short time. The basic pistols are clones of each other,with the Springfield being better outfitted with night sights and a light rail. In the end I kept the Defender because I felt it was a better concealed piece than the Springer. Both have an aluminum frame with stainless slide and are as light weight and compact as you will find in the 1911 design. Kimber and Para also make compact carry pieces, but the aluminum frames are kind of limited. I'd recommend the Defender.

My Detonics was great in its time but that was years ago. To heavy and grip to short. I still have but the Colts are better pistols for carry

The Para C6-45 is smaller that the Kimber and Colt.

I know nothing about it, but the Para Warthog claims to be the smallest .45 in their add copy.

I just picked up a Colt Defender, its a great gun, awesome grip for me, easy to conceal.

No one has mentioned the Glock G36?

I'm a M1911 guy, but I think that the G36 is definitely worthy of consideration as an easy to carry & reliable mini .45ACP pistol.

Smallest 45 I have seen is

The Kahr PM45.

Smallest I've known is my Para C6. AMT backup was smaller but it just wasn't reliable enough for me to consider it seriously. I have a Glock 30 and a Glock 36 but both of them are on the large side.

My personal choice is the Taurus PT 145 but make sure yours is reliable before trusting it. Frankly, its compactness amazes me.

made in 9mm .40 and .45

the smallest i have liked was ( dont laugh) a "Lady Smith"

a 4" barreled S&W it had all the clearences you need (I hate chunks taken out of my fingers when the action cycles)

there are smaller but they can tear you up some

I had a WSP 45 for the same reasons, to show people and let them shoot it. But also as a weapon, big mistake. It was a waste and I sold it. It shot 4 feet high due to recoil, so to be on paper, you had to aim at the ground. It felt like a sledge hammer hit your hand. One round of 45 fmj was all I could shoot every 30 minutes. You really dont want one of those.
