I was almost 100% 1911 for life until a friend put one of the G30's in my hand. I still LOVE my Kimbers, but for concealed carry I end up having the G30 on my side more often than not....
The H&K USP Tactical is absolutely my favorite. The ergonomics are fantastic, it never fails to function perfectly and most important of all, the trigger is smooth as a baby's butt. It's competition accurate and yet Glock reliable.
I'd go with either a M&P45 or HK45 - depending on how much money you want to spend and/or if you had a specific trigger preference. Both are excellent handguns.
While I never fired a XD45 Tactical, I did hold one and it felt great in the hands. The Glock grips were too fat for me (even the SF model, and not counting the 36).
Frame is polymer kevlar blend molded over stainless steel support. I've owned mine for 9 years. Ive taken it to high count and precision training courses over the years, including a couple of weeklong intensive courses without any hiccups.
I like the XD45, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like the others.
It points and shoots well for me, the grip feels natural, and I like the grip safety that works like a self-setting manual safety, and allows for a quick hassle-free chamber check.
I don't figure it for a match pistol, but that's not what I bought it for.
The Glock 30-SF and the Glock 21-SF have the best natural aim point for me. My XD-45 was a great pistol, it simply didn't have as good of a natural aim point (for me).
