Mosin Bolt removal ??

Hello everybody,
I'm planning on going to the gunstore soon to pick up a mosin but i want to make sure the bore hasnt been slugged out too badly before i pay for it (hopefully it wont be full of cosmo, but i wont be suprised if it is). I reckon the safest and easiest way to do this would be to look down the bbl from the breech end. Does the bolt remove by simply lifting it up and pulling it back then squeezing the trigger, or is there some other way to remove it?

Nope, that's about it. Pull the trigger, it slides out.

Worry much more about the muzzle end then the breech end.

Muzzle damage and rifling wear from steel cleaning rods will do more to destroy accuracy then a rough bore further back.

as said, open the bolt, clear the rifle, hold the trigger back and slide the bolt out.

many mosins on the market right now have whats called a counter bored barrel.

this is when the rifling is drilled out to create a fresh crown a inch or so inside the original barrel. this was done during rearsenal. a counter bore takes an otherwise damaged rifle and improves its accuracy. its a good thing compared to the original damaged barrel.

what type of mosin are you looking at?
