With all the crazy prices now what's a NIB Colt pre Ban AR worth. I've got a lead on unfired NIB Sporter Target Model 6551,early 90's, never fired with the original Manual, Sling, Cleaning kit, 2-20rd Colt mags, 2-30 rd GI mags all NIW. I think I can buy it for $1400.00,is this a good price ? Thanks in advance.

I suppose that's a good price, depending on what you want it for. Obviously, NIB discontinued Colt models loose value if you take them out of the box and shoot them.

Hello from a fellow Massachusetts serf.

That is not a bad price considering the current market. I remember when I picked up my pre-ban colt sporter lightweight on a trade the listed price was somewhere around $1500 or so and it only came with one 30rd mag. This was before the market went haywire. So $1400 for all of that is not a bad price at all especially for a NIB one. I think mine was LNIB as I remember opening it up and the thing looked unfired.

All right I am purely a bolt shooter[my mini 14 turned me off semi's] but what is the diff. between pre-post ban ARs? I heard the bolt is different.

Some states have their own AWBs and rifles produced after a certain date have restrictions. That one you describe would probably be gold to someone in those areas.

Now that there is "no-ban", I'm always amazed when people still look at ARs in terms of pre-ban or not. Right now, they're all pre-ban, for the only ban that counts (the one coming).

Not in Mass. or CT, where you can only buy new post-bans sans flash hiders and folding stocks or older pre-bans with those amenities.
