I live in Cook County, Illinois. I'm visiting my parents just South of Lawrence, Mass. Since New Hampshire has always seeming like the Promised Land of Gun Rights to me in Illinois, I would like to visit a New Hampshire gun store and/or shooting range. I was hoping that some of you guys from around here might direct me to a good gun shop somewhere near the Massachusetts border in New Hampshire. I am willing to do some driving to get there. Thanks in advance!

hello mastiff! i grew up 15 min from Lawrence on the mass / New Hamphire border. The town i grew up in is called Plaistow. There is a gun store there called daves sporting goods. Its on Route 125 also known as Plaistow road. 111 Plaistow Rd, Plaistow, NH 03865
(603) 382-0408‎. That is all the info you should need to map quest it from your location. You just head up 495 north and get off on the haverhill plaistow exit and keep going up 125 untill you see it on your right. They have a pretty good selection of firearms and the people there have always been friendly and helpful to me when i have gone there. I find the kittery trading post in Maine to have slightly better prices but only if you are a NH resident and you dont have to pay taxes (they transfer the guns across the border to a little hut to sell to NH residents tax free). As far as shooting ranges go i have only been to the Manchester firing line. Its usually pretty busy but i had fun when i was there.

+1 on Manchester Firing Line - located more or less near the Manchester airport. You can google and get a map.

THE gun store in New Hampshire is Riley's in Hooksett, about halfway between Manchester and Concord off of I-95 - great place.

That range, the Greek restaurant down the road, and the cocktail waitress at the airport bar are about the only reasons I'll sometimes fly out of Manchester rather than PWM these days.

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm flying out of the Manchester Airport, so I think the Firing Line gets the nod. This is a great site!

And be advised that The Firing Line rents all kinds of full-auto stuff...bring extra money as they burn up ammo wicked quick.

They're also a great fun to shoot.

Gun shoppes

Good lord, in the 2 years i spent in the shipyard in kittery I must have left more money with the trading post and pete harvey than i spent on anything else.

Riley's is good they like to haggle

but Pete Harvey up in Farmington is the man to see.

You may also want to look up ED Briand in Nashua-he has a grandfathered residential biz on behingd the NG Armory/artillery unit on the DW Highway.
He does not always have a huge inventory, but he services everything he sells ,and WILL place orders without ripping you off on th emark up.

Anyone know if The Green Store in North Haverhill is still in operation? I visited there as a kid many times many many years ago have always wondered whatever became of Ken Green and his fine crew. Thanks in advance if you have any idea or information.

Wouldn't send my worst enemy to Riley's. Two visits and both were horrible experiences in prices and customer service.
Might be a bit of a drive but it's well worth visiting Kittery Trading Post.
