Brown Bear 9mm for Uzi?

My local gun shop has 500 round cases of Brown Bear 9mm 115gr FMJ for $115 and I've been contemplating buying some of it for my Uzi but I'm a little hesitant.

The box says that it's lacquered steel cased ammo and I'm worried that it will bad for the gun.

I already put two boxes of it through the Uzi and didn't have any issues but I don't want to put too much more through it until I know it's safe for the gun.

Anyone have any experience with this stuff? I'm just looking for plinking ammo quality isn't really a concern as long as it works.

I honestly can't imagine a UZI SMG getting damaged by decent quality steel cased ammunition. That gun should be a lot tougher than most 9mm pistols, I would actually expect an UZI to shoot +P+ without a problem. As far as damaging the extractor or anything like that, UZI parts are cheap and the savings one case of ammo would unquestionably cover the costs of an extractor or whatever.

I don't have an Uzi (unfortunately), but I wouldn't hesitate to shoot steel-cased ammo through it. Heck, there exists 9mm rounds rounds loaded to really high pressure--higher than +P+. Guess what? They're designed to be shot through Uzis.

Since the Uzi is straight blowback, the fired casing actually pushes the on bolt, so I don't see steel-cased rounds having much negative effect upon the extractor.

I've been running a lot of S&B steel case 9mmP thru my Uzi. No problems except the occasional dud.

Still on my 1st extractor too.

Is your Uzi a registered reciever or a registered bolt? I would want to have a spare barrel, topcover (a KB will sometimes tweak the topcover and cause cycling problems; they're cheap so having 3-4 on hand might be a good idea) and bolt (not possible with a registered bolt) on-hand before playing around with unknown ammo.

My experience with Brown Bear and Silver Bear ammunition has been nothing but good. It's my favorite commie ammo! It's as good as most budget American ammo, excluding the fact that it's steal cased (only makes a difference if you want to reload). Uzi's are tough and I doubt it will harm it, have fun!
