Wait time on a form 4?

Not sure as to current wait times. I have my paperwork at the sheriff's office for his sign off. It has been 3 weeks that it has been there.
On my last Form 4 it was 56 days from the time I mailed it. But that was last spring. The guys over on SilencerTalk have been saying that wait times are up since the first of the year.

Mine went in the middle of January and I still haven't recieved anything. Kinda exspected the new administration to be slow, they have no respect for the public.

It's been at the sheriff's office for 3 WEEKS waiting for his signature?? Mine took almost 24 hours...but he wasn't in the day I dropped it off.

The Clark County, NV sheriff's are notorious for taking forever to sign off on stuff.

To get your CCW you gotta get the sheriff's signature. They have 120 days I believe to sign it. Many peope finally receive their CCW on the 100th - 120th day after giving it to the sheriff.

It took about a week for me to get a time with my sheriff, he asked me what I was planing on getting (didnt even read the paperwork) signed it and had his reciponest make a copy with my DL, then said if I needed anything else signed, just come on in. In and out in under 5 min. It did take ~20 min to get finger prints though.

Well I sort of got my paperwork back from the Sheriff today. Opened the envelope and... empty. They mailed me a completely empty envelope:banghead:

Oh well. Now have to wait til Monday to talk with them since the CCW office is already closed for the weekend.

I sent them mine in early March (for a silencer). Nothing so far. I was told 60-90 days. I'm going to be a little pill and call them on Monday. I know they cashed my check the day it was received.

Talked to a guy in the know and he said that so much paper work came in that they are a month behind. Seems in 07 they had 500,000 + sets of paper work, 900,000 + sets in 08 and are on a pace half again as much for this year. They are swamped.

Damn, at $200 a pop they are sure making money.

I think it is running around 3 months from when the ATF receives your paperwork based on a couple threads over at silencer forums. NFA items are a patient man's game.

They are really quick to cash your check, I think mine was cashed the day after my F4s arrived at ATF. 8 or 9 weeks later it finally came back. I think after 4 or 5 weeks it went pending (good sign). This was about a year ago though. If NFA is anything like the title 1 purchases they must be swamped. Thankfully they opened the new office, I read stories about 8 month waiting times before :uhoh:

Finally got my paperwork back from the Sheriff. Everything was mailed off to ATF this morning. So now it's down to the waiting. Hey in about 3 months I'll have my suppressor.

Well at the rate they are doing their work you should get it in about five months. I hear the FBI has been ordered to do a more intensive check going back many years of your history.

Guy here in my town got refused on a nics check for a ticket he got for wreckless driving. He was 28 then and is 78 now and I am sure the single shot rifle he was buying put him on the terrorist list.

Before bama got in he was never refused a purchase

Thanks guys for voting for bama

I seriously doubt that many were for private transfers. Most were probably tax free govt. transfers.

took right at 3 months for my last one...came in a few weeks ago so pretty recent. I do mine through a trust though, since I started doing them that way they seem to go quicker...don't have to wait on the Sherriff either.

Just an update. I am at 5 weeks since the paperwork went to BATF. Still waiting......I'm sure for a while more.
