Handgun as club

Sis-In-Law has one of those Phoenix/Raven .25ACP pistols...

Been trying to convince her to fill up the barrel and magwell with concrete is she intends to use it as an impact weapon....

In "Kill or Get Killed" it has a section on close quarters bludgeoning with a .45. There's even a nice illustration to go along with it. Though if I ever have to use mine as a backhand device then things are probably not going well for me.

I used a S&W 27 for beating heads as I worked for tending bar at my brother's place. This one day a guy offered me $200. for this revolver, I took it, I bought a Ruger .357 magnum with enough left over for a steak supper and a case of pabst. Can't beat a Ruger.

I have a S&W 27-2 and I won't even take it out of the case without having a pair of lint free cotton gloves on. This weapon was born in 1965 and has never been fired. Pistol whip someone with it, oh no, Never.

Many nose bones, cheek bones, ears, and teeth have been lost across the cylinder of my 27. It made a fight turn into something downright brutal. I made a lot enemies because of that gun.

DA,

I bought my first Model 27 about '74/'75 for around $400. That's about the time Ruger was "introducing" it's single action .357s. If you sold a Model 27 and bought a Ruger with the earnings all I can say is "chump." You bought an SA Ruger that was selling for $200 or less at the time and infer it was a better gun than the Model 27?

If you chose to use a Model 27 as a bludgeon, um, OMG!

I can see it all now. I got an SP101 (it was introduced in 1988).

Yup, long live Bill Ruger and his imitations of quality firearms.

"I made a lot enemies because of that gun."

If you ever owned a Model 27 you would know it was one of the finest revolvers ever made. And, even in 1975 it was only available in a presentation case.

You are either very old or...

In SD classes they teach people to use their car keys as weapons.
But a 2 pound hunk of solid steel? What good will that do? <sarcasm>

Just carry a knife. If you shoot somebody with more than 5 rounds and they are not down, I just don't know what to say.

Riddle me this : How years did S&W make the Model 27, with the pinned barrels and recessed cylinders, with the four inch barrels ?

LOL... I'm neither a Hi-Point lover or hater, as I have little to no experience with them. However, if there was ever something a HP would excel at, its being used as a club!!!!!!!! This thread has Hi-point written all over it!!!!

Davek1977; I know if the metal would hold up too well as during a pistol whipping. This one I like my Colt Single Army .45 Colt, plenty of sharp edges.

If Cowboys had plastic guns, WANTED posters wouldn't have gotten nailed up....

I was shooting a friends .44 mag revolver. It was off to the left. So I went up stairs to the gunsmith and told him. He picked it up walked over to a big wooden block that was dented up pretty bad. Raised the gun over his head and WHAM! Smacked a $1100 gun on that chunk of wood.

Jim Ciriilo's method of adjusting windage on fixed sight revolvers involved whacking the barrel on a bar of lead.

When I went to S&W armorer's school I had a Model 60 that shot left and asked the instructor if anything could be done. This guy ahd been a S&W armorer for over 20 years so I'm sure he knew what he was doing. He took the gun , held it up to the light, looked through the sights from both ends, and...whacked it on a bar of lead. Gun has shot dead on ever since. I relate this story to those who thought Cirillo's method was crude.

Using your handgun as a club can result in an unwanted sight adjustment.

Only Two Years
Out Of 45 years with Pinned Barrels and Recessed Cylinders
1935 - 1980

Is this after you run out of ammo? I have seen stock broke out of long guns, im sure alot of good handguns have been broke this way, woult i bust a head with my handgun? Yea if i had too! I would rather use hickery wood csa

Well, this question occurred to me the other day, not exactly as OP stated, but 3 people burned to death in a car. Guy was there trying to get them out but couldn't break the window. I've started carrying an automotive fire extinguisher along with the 1911, either one would be able to break a rear window correct?
