Mine was the second pistol I ever bought. I bought it because of an article I read in "Guns" magazine about the testing it went through to become a service weapon. Mine wasn't really all that accurate but it was the most reliable handgun I ever owned. I picked up old brass at the range one day and put it in the same bag as my mags. Yep, dirt and all. I went back to the range a couple of weeks later to find my mags full of sand. I beat them out as best I could and shot anyway. No misfeeds. At all. I was very impressed and will always remember that. The only real downside to me is the size of the thing. It is freakin' huge. Over all I think they're great guns.

"The Open Slide Design virtually eliminates jamming or stovepiping. And also allows the user to load the chamber one cartridge at a time should the magazine be lost or damaged."

I bought one, and then another, and another because when they are not treated like the village bicycle, they are the most reliable hammer fired semiauto pistols going.

And with 18 round flush fit Mec-Gar mags with anti friction coating, the size of the B92/M9 is not a liability either. It is true that it is not a great CCW piece, though it can be adequately hidden with the proper gear and clothing choices, but then neither is a Glock 17 a cakewalk to hide in comparison.

If you remember that the 92 is a full size service pistol and not a hide out gun, you'll be firing one of the best service pistols ever fielded.

Your poll made me go look at mine still NIB. I had one before that I really liked so I bought another. My son has the first one.

I didnt read before I voted. I voted for other. I do not own one but I want one and the other should be all of the above.

I Have no idea! Must have been day dreaming. Shoots left, is HUGE and heavy and not a natural pointer. Other than that it's great!:banghead: Ah thats just sour grapes...I loved the 1911A1 and was ticked off when the Army changed.

Because it fits my hand like a glove, and it turns me into an expert marksman.

I bought mine back in the late 80s (before the military accepted it) due to a gun magazine article. The testers crammed every type of ammo into it they could find and the gun just ate the ammo, even when it had been bent because someone didn't feed it correctly into a machine gun. In short, it ate anything that could be stuffed into the magazine. It had no eject port for cases to hang on and no ramp that the cartridge had to travel up on. In short, it was more reliable than any 1911 could hope to be.

But that was then.

Since that time ultrareliable autos have pretty much been perfected. Yes, you can still jam a Glock by limp wristing it, but I ultimately settled on the very nice S&W 659. Not only was it reliable, it had a stainless steel frame, stainless steel slide and stainless steel pretty much everything else.

I also lamented the fact that Beretta has never stood behind their products. For the longest time, they denied there was a problem with their military pistols, even as slides were popping off the frames; then they denied there was anything wrong with their Tomcats at a time when both cops and civilians were betting their lives on them. Even now Tomcats can crack their frames any time, rendering the guns inoperable. Beretta now admits there's a problem, but they can't fix the problem and can only offer Tomcat owners discounts on a replacement (non-Tomcat).

I still have a few Beretta pistols, but I sold my 92s long ago. I might pick up one in the future if I get a good price, or trade, for it. I also still consider it to be one of the finest 9mm pistols ever made, and I'd take one ANY DAY over a Glock.

Got the M9 and loved it. Bought the PX4 Storm in .40 and its great also. They make a great gun.. not one misfire or feed error in either over 2000 rds ea

I bought the beretta but sold it as I preferred my Taurus better. I just wanted to know what all the hoopla was about with the beretta after years of faithful service from the Taurus. I found out and sold the beretta because the taurus was just better feeling and a safer pistol to carry.

there should be a "all of the above". Seriously. I bought mine for a multitude of reasons. I can say I didn't appreciate it fully at first, but I do so now. The M9A1 is actually my next purchase. It won't be for a while, but I'm oh so looking forward to it. And now I'm gonna go see if I can track down the Die Hard trilogy.

Accuracy, one of the most accurate 9mm's one can buy stock.

Plus, it has nice machining.

Sold it though, to get a CZ. I wanted cocked and locked for IDPA.

I voted other because my son bought one and when I felt it in my hand I couldn't wait to find one for sale. As a matter of fact I tried to buy his but he wouldn't give it up. Still got it and it is the weapon I qualified for my CCW with. Don't think I will ever sell it.

I bought my 92FS as the ergonomics were spot on. I can drop the slide release without altering my grip.

It came with a dodgy barrel crown, it had a big ding in it which was done prior to the finish being applied, I had my gunsmith re-crown it (not worth trying to get warranty service in Australia, easier to just fix it myself).

I also got a trigger job. It is accurate off the bench but an awkward gun to shoot accurately freehand I have found. It doesn't shoot as well as my old Glock 26 or my CZ75 :(

It has become a safe queen as I haven't bothered to use it for the four or five years. I will load up some ammo and try again, if it doesn't work out this time i will get rid of the big turkey and just stick to the Colt 38 Super I also use.

Looks ok though,

I'm not real keen on the way it can be instantly stripped by an opponent if he knows what he is doing and grabs hold of it.

Four Fingers.

I was under the impression that guns were recently banned in Australia, are you law enforcement down there?

I bought mine because it

1. Is one of only 2500 "Operation Enduring Freedom" commemorative 92FS gold lettered...really really nice....
2. It only had 3 rounds through it, and the orig. owner is a good friend of mine.
3. It came with hard case, two 15 rd. mags, two 10 rd. mags, a cleaning kit, and lanyard.
4. I picked it up for $500.00!!!

Now it's going into a display box to give to my grandson(?) or to pass on. I usually don't say this about ANY gun....but way too nice to shoot!!! Definately a display piece.

it is the weapon I qualified for my CCW with.
Wow, that may be one of the most non-concealable 9mm handguns ever made(discounting race guns and extended mags).

When I was buying my first pistol it was strictly for home defense. Requirements were: Reliable, easy to shoot, and affordable/available ammo. Knowing nothing about guns, I read all I could find. Knowing the military was using this gun sealed the deal for me. I learned to shoot with this gun and have loved it since I first laid hands on it.

Of course, now that I've learned a thing or two, I would rent and shoot several guns before making another purchase, but the Beretta has been a great purchase for me. I'll never trade it.
