On Ruger's Website what all the hype about

I am hearing the name “SR-22” being thrown around. Supposedly a .223REM/5.56mmN.A.T.O. Piston driven AR-15 variant.

Yup, that's an AR type carrier and looks like it's piston driven. Maybe they'll call it the Mini 15 he he. You know it's going to use Mine 14 mags too - right!

In all fairness if ruger made a good AR varient that was reliable, cheap, and accurate with the backing of the 10/22 I would be all over it. I want a good AR but these $1500 ARs are a little retarded. I wouldn't mind one that I could easily afford and that I know would be super reliable. I would even own a ruger 1911 granted it had all spec parts.

Would love for it to be a series of AR's that are available with A1 uppers and no tactical doo dads(other than being piston driven) at a reasonable price.

However it will probably be a tricked out mall ninja special.

Should just make an AK variant and be done with it. It fits with Ruger's typical line up better. A stainless AK with hardwood would actually kinda look nice haha.

I was on their site at noon. It's an AR called the SR556, utilizing a 2-stage, piston driven action.

It is different than the average AR. However, does this gun remind anyone of the SIG556?

MSRP is $2000, which means that the "gotta have it" factor will have it in the $2200 range for a while, but even after the dust settles a bit, the street price will still be $1700-ish.

Yet another weapon out of my price bracket. :banghead:

Piston driven AR so it will cause the carrier to tilt thus increasing wear on your upper. Oh, and the the chromed carrier will also increase wear on your upper.

Looks like the guesstimation and Insider knowledge of THR nailed it again.

I think this is overpriced and would rather have a Sig or FN creation.
That being said I'll probably buy one if the price hits around $1,500. No more than that though.

I really think Ruger should have looked into making an updated M14 that took AR mags and kept the price low enough for the average gun buyer.

To give Ruger credit since the new CEO took over they have been making some headway.

Looks just like a Sig 556, with a standard AR back end. I have to admit, I prefer piston-drive rifles. Thats why I'm an AK guy. I guess we shall see how this new Ruger unfolds.

The AK is a far superior design for a piston gun than the AR retrofitted or reengineered for the piston. I would never want a piston in my AR.

I don't know much about AR's I haven't really gotten into them because I don't have a use for them so I don't have an opinion on the new gun although it looks nice. I would like to see an SR45 without a thumb safety and in the same size frame as the SR9.

I do have an opinion on people flaming Ruger for the recalls though. At least they manned up and fixed the problems. Oh wait that's right, there weren't really "true" problems. I don't remember there being function issues at all. They fixed a trigger on the SR9 because they said it "could" fire if dropped and the same for the LCP's hammer. I don't remember this actually happening to anyone. Maybe if the guns didn't work and were a bunch of lemon's I'd have a different view but they're not. I'm blown away by how many people are complaining about a company standing behind it's product, customers, and the safety of both. Get over it. Oh yeah, Bill Ruger is dead. I echo, Get over it.
