Foxnews released a new national poll today that included a gun control question. http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/051809_issues_web.pdf
I tried to insert the actual question and results here, but I couldn't get the formatting correct so it was unreadable.
The question was: Which of the following do you think is more likely to decrease gun violence?
The possible answers were: 1. Better enforcement of existing gun laws 2. More laws and restrictions on obtaining guns 3. (Both) 4. (Don't know)
The main reason I have linked the poll here is because the results are broken down by political party. In the recent past I have seen people post here who criticize other members for assuming that Democrats are anti-gun. Although I agree that not every Democrat is anti-gun (just like not every republican is pro-gun), the results show that Democrats favor more gun control laws by a greater than 2 to 1 margin over republicans (49% compared to 22%).
Probably the most shocking statistic in this poll is that gun owners as a group favor more gun control in a higher percentage than republicans (24% compared to 22%).
