the local walmart filled a shelf with 223 and is selling it at $80/200 rounds. the shelf has been full for about two weeks now. they just aren't selling any of it.

I don't shoot .223, so I'm unfamiliar with the price. What was the going rate for middle-of-the-road .223 before the panic?
As I have stated in the past what really gets me is to see your local gun shop people standing in line at Walley World. They buy the WWB .40 cal for $13.95 and take it back to their store and sell it for $29.95. We have people that say that we should continue to support our local gun stores even though they are taking advantage of us. I no longer buy anything at the local shops.
That's flat out rotten. Buying up all of another retailer's inventory so you can turn around an sell it at more than double the price is just bad practice. Hopefully, once this is all over, shops that do that will be remembered for such antics and go out of business when people no longer patronize them.

You know, I really, really wish I'd gotten back into guns before the panic. I remember going plinking with my cousin and buying a 525 round brick of .22LR at Wal*Mart for six or seven bucks. I'm sure we won't see those days again, but hopefully the current situation won't continue. Obviously, raw material prices have been skyrocketing (look at the price of copper) so that plays a role, but still...

Just left Gander in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. They have ammo but $39.95 for 50 rounds of 40 cal, .223 cal is $19.95 for a 20 round box. I no longer buy gun supplies from them but I do eat in their resturant.

What I plan to do is remember who took care of me when times were slim. And, as much as I agree the folks at Wally-World leave a bit to be desired on product knowledge and customer respect much of the time, what I get there beats the club that I pay to belong to. They received a case of .380 awhile back and sold it all to one club big shot that also has a regular booth at the gun shows. When I told an owner how many other folks that one case of ammo could have made pretty happy, I was told "Hey, you snooze, you lose", whatever that means.......So when the shortage is over maybe I'll remind the folks at my shooting club why I'm bringing in my WWB target loads from Wal-mart instead of "supporting my club" as they like to put it. Yep, old buddy, just like you supported me, your customer, way back when !

That's not a terrible price for brass-cased 223.

just picked up a bulk box of .38 special at Dicks today...200rds for $70. i haven't bought boxes of 50 for under $20 in a LONG time. i tried to buy two boxes, but they only let me buy one.

they also had bulk boxes of 9mm and .223

still no bulk boxes of .22 at my walmart or Dicks

many months ago they had bulk boxes of 00Buck at walmart...15 rounds for 9.99. (shoulda bought more) i can't find them for any less then $6 for a box of 5 now.

im going to keep my eyes open and buy a little at a time when it becomes available...nothing crazy

I wish they had some of that here. I've been buying Fiocchi .223REM @ $21/50 from the local gunshop. It's good stuff for my .223, but I'd like bigger boxes available.

What brand is that, American Eagle? Winchester?

The wife of one of my salesmen called him last week with an "inside tip". A local shop apparently received a monster haul of pistol ammo they had on order, and were limiting customers to five boxes. So, he took off early from work to grab some up, but when he walked through the door and asked for .45acp, he was only snickered at.

Somebody was told wrong.

Maybe not to you but trhat is an increase from =/-$0.25 per round to $0.40 in less than three or four months. That turns into serious money for guy that does a 1,000 or so rounds per month. $250 to $400 IMO is a serious increase and would be a major impact on my continued use of a .223 cal weapon

ATG

40 S&W just dropped $10 on AmmunitionToGo. A box of Federal American Eagle was $29.95, today it's $19.95. Gun show prices in the past week were hovering around $22 per box of 50.

It would be nice if they did but I noticed the price on 9mm is still jacked up. The other pistol calibers still seem to be empty.

I went to Walmart to check out this bulk .223. When I got there I was so star struck by the fact that they actually had one Winchester 9mm value pack and about 15 boxes of Winchester USA 9mm that I completely forgot to even look behind me at the .223. OH WELL, next time I'll look!

I think that's the first 9mm I've seen in that case since about Dec-January.

Ammo and primers how is it looking?

The question is in the title. So go from there please. In my part of western KY the only ammo we can find on a secure basis is 12,20,410 shotgun shells, and a sorts of high powered rifle ammo. Handgun ammo changes on a daily order. Some times there are 9mm but most days there are no handgun calibers even on the shelf. Primers are a no go only can find shotgun primers which is nice but I want somthing other than my birds guns for the summer.
So post away and have fun with this.

God BLess

Ammo! Ammo! Ammo!

This is a CONSPIRACY! I tell ya....... This administration is NOT.....I repeat NOT....against law abiding gun owners to exercise there 2nd amendment right to own a gun....

BUT !!!! ......... They did not say you could have ammo for it! I bet if we get another Republican in the White House we will find all the .380 ammo in the Lincoln Bedroom! :neener:

This was all for Fun guys..... But I sure miss being able to find ammo and reloading supplies...... :(

Widener's has gone from being 18 days behind, to only 2-3 days behind. Maybe this thing is starting to ease, maybe enough people have basement's full of ammo, that its starting to return to the shelves.:)

Not sure what part of West KY you are in but I found plenty of ammo in several different calibers just this afternoon in Paducah

.22 LR seems relatively easy to find now in bricks

Handgun centerfire calibers are really dicy and as far as primers...the only ones I saw recently were at a gun show for $60 and up a 1000 for small pistol. I did go in to Scheels today (22 stores Montana to Midwest) and there were two boxes of 44 Mag remanufactured, UltraMax brand for $21 a box plus tax. New stuff would be around 31-35 probably. I bought it for my nephew in Michigan who just bought a 629 and wants to build up his empties (and ammo supply of course) supply so he can reload. Anyway, I am rambling....I wonder how many boxes Scheels had to start with. I got the last two and was grateful for the price.

Oh, I live in Eastern Iowa.

I don't remember Wal-mart selling 200 rounds of .223 for 50.00 the last couple years.

65.00 for 200 rounds of brass-cased import like Fiocchi of Privi Partisan has been pretty standard before this panic and that was before shipping.

I know a lot of people that would be thrilled to see 200 domestic, brass-cased rounds for 80.00 right now.

Maybe late next year we will see 25 cents a round for 223 again but not now.

My local gun store has piles and piles of ammo. Of course, they also have piles of PMAGs and piles of AR-15s and piles of pretty much everything else no one's been able to keep in stock - all for very reasonable prices.

I think they either planned very well for this panic, or they have very, very good relationships with their suppliers.

I just didn't believe it - now I do :(

I haven't bought ammo for a long time, but just acquired not one but two 9mm pistols and thought I should buy some ammo. I finally gave up after my 4th attempt. Not only was there no ammo, there was no news on when there might be any.

It's not a huge deal, I have some from the Clinton admin scare that I got stuck with when they were in storage and I traded off my last 9mm a couple of years ago. But, I figured that I should buy a couple of boxes to break everything in and not deplete my back store. Now I'm scared to go shoot for fear of being out.

A buddy at a party just told me to be at Wal-Mart early Monday morning so I may try that.
