Hello, badt00d here, just joined up tonight. I was searching on the 1911 board, and saw this one mentioned. I had seen it some time back, but forgot about it. I have been reading about your ideas for a long range. I saw something written by Phil Sharpe, an old timer reloader, shooter, and writer. He built a range like you are doing, but he set the horizontal ties in some steel channels or I-beams, where they would be replaceable. Some thing to think about maybe, don't know if that would be something that would fit into your plan, but I thought I'd throw it in. It sounds great, someday I'd like to get out your way. I'm in Colo Spgs. I lived in La Junta and Akron in the sixties, used to drive through Limon all the time. My dad sprayed alot of eastern colorado with an airplane all through the sixties, I miss it out there.
He screwed one into the ground around Arriba, I still have the bent prop. I have his Ruger Bearcat, from around 1964 or so, as I recall, he bought it in Arriba at a restaraunt or little store there that sold guns then. I still have the original receipt, for like about fourty some dollars or so, I think.
I'll give ya holler sometime, maybe try to get out your way. Good luck with the range. Badt00d
