I've spent a considerable amount of time out on the drylands and realize they are quite fragile. You are right to postpone this. Damage done by a few tractors and pickups could be visible for decades, and cause further erosion problems.

Let us know when you are ready, the THR family is willing to help (and join in the fun).

Yesterday I was asking my friends at work if we would swim or ski on Friday.

I have done both today! (Denver)

You have been swimming in deep water! We made up our entire spring drought with one thunder boomer.

We'd spend more time pulling each other out than range building.

Keep us posted as it drys. I am ready to go when you say so and looking forward to it!

Back at you Larry!

And with any luck that wheat will fatten a deer for me in the Ft Morgan Akron Sterling triangle I hope to draw for this year!

Hello, badt00d here, just joined up tonight. I was searching on the 1911 board, and saw this one mentioned. I had seen it some time back, but forgot about it. I have been reading about your ideas for a long range. I saw something written by Phil Sharpe, an old timer reloader, shooter, and writer. He built a range like you are doing, but he set the horizontal ties in some steel channels or I-beams, where they would be replaceable. Some thing to think about maybe, don't know if that would be something that would fit into your plan, but I thought I'd throw it in. It sounds great, someday I'd like to get out your way. I'm in Colo Spgs. I lived in La Junta and Akron in the sixties, used to drive through Limon all the time. My dad sprayed alot of eastern colorado with an airplane all through the sixties, I miss it out there.
He screwed one into the ground around Arriba, I still have the bent prop. I have his Ruger Bearcat, from around 1964 or so, as I recall, he bought it in Arriba at a restaraunt or little store there that sold guns then. I still have the original receipt, for like about fourty some dollars or so, I think.
I'll give ya holler sometime, maybe try to get out your way. Good luck with the range. Badt00d

Still plan on building something, but we are scrambling right now to get all our spring farming done. When we get closer to getting done, I'll get in touch with everyone and see what we can come up with for a date.

New guy here, and just noticed this thread. Let me know when you need a hand. I head down that way to visit friends during some of the summer weekends so should not be a problem (wife, heh) to add more weekends down thata way. :)

hey all, i know this thread is about to turn 2 years old, but there's a LOT of colorado posters in here. OP (i know you still post every once in awhile)- did you ever finish the project, if so, are there any plans come summertime for an eastern colorado shoot? would love to meet some of y'all and have a day of shooting.
