What are you defining as a dagger??

According to Gutmacher, in Florida a dagger or dirk is defined as "weapon with a narrow, pointed, double-edged tip that is used for stabbing." Per the appellate courts in FL, dirks or daggers are stabbing weapons capable of inflicting death. Daggers are not pocket knives per the courts, and as such would be illegal to carry them on person without permit (first degree misdemeanor).

I am not a lawyer, and this is just my opinion based on the reading of Jon's book.

I get a kick out of legal code referrances to "knives capable of causing death"...as though someon tucking a single edge fileting knife under my ear is NOT going to kill me.
Honestly,I do not believe ANYTHNG should be "illegal"(as far as inanimate objects go) unless the person with it got it by stealing it....from ME

As always, google is your friend. Take some time to learn your state's laws yourself. One of the many virtues of our nation is that we have laws that are available to us.

Not sure what the actual law in Florida states but its not unusual to see folks carrying hunting knives, in fact I was in my favorite watering hole yesterday when a biker & his lady came in and she had a very nice Buck strapped to her waist.

Correct. You can carry brass knuckles, a samurai sword, whatever, as long as it's concealed. Also it can't be a machine gun.

Prod: One only must conceal FIREARMS as statuatorily defined..........knives & other stuff is generally OK openly carried but one might encounter local prohibitions on other than firearms.

As an incidental aside, antique firearms are not defined as such unless used in the comission of a criminal act and openly carrying one would NOT be a violation of the open carry issue.............read 790's intro & definations.
