My dad's friend had a taurus .45...unfortunately I don't have access to it or I wouldn't be asking you. It was a semi that was compensated and had pearl/ivoru faux grips. If I had to describe it it was like a smith wesson semi in body style...definitely an older model taurus. Anyone know what gun I'm thinking of?

thanks for the response. It's similar to that yeah but it has compensation ports. Considering trading a Glock for it.Never the biggest fan of Tauruses, but this compensated model is a bad boy. I probably won;t trade, but I'm going to try and buy it from him soon. Does Taurus have a custom shop perhaps? I don;t see any compensated models on that website....maybe it's older?

They have special edition pistols but in the current lineup there is no gun that matches your description. It's either older firearm, or someone has done some aftermarket work on it. If you take a picture and post it here, one would be able to possibly identify it.

On the other hand, there's not a Glock made that I would trade a High Point for, either. The Glock balances poorly for me, and the companies policies of never admitting a problem, then "upgrading" the next run of pistols to, coincidentally, fix the "non-problem", leaves me cold.

Is this it? Same as Camacho's post, but mentions porting/compensated.

PT-945 - .45 ACP cal., DA/SA, 4 1/4 in. ported (mfg. 1997-2003) or unported barrel, 8 shot single stack mag., ambidextrous 3 position safety, chamber loaded indicator, 3-dot sights, 29 1/2 oz. New 1995.

Another site lists the model number as 945SS4C
