Hi i am a new member i have been checking out thr for some time.i like to hunt waterfowl,big game,also shoot targets with handguns and rifles and sporting clays,trap and skeet.
 
Later, as a country dweller, I enjoyed standing under wet trees with a twelve bore and hoping for pigeons to pass over

Hi Jubi and welcome aboard. I'm a also fairly new, having joined about 3 weeks ago. You have indeed found the right forum. I found it by accident and of all the forums I'm sub'd to, this is the best by far. Lots of really knowledgeable people on just about anything related to firearms. I think you will be an asset to the forum because of your background.
btw, I chuckled at your quote above. Now, if I was standing under a wet tree I would hope that *no* pigeons would fly over me.;)
You say you're retired, eh? I'm 71 and still working full-time. Why? Well, I love my job, my co-workers and the pay plus I'm in good health. I drive county transit buses here in San Jose.

hey everyone, My name is Shawn. I'm in the Navy and currently on a 6 month deployment in Afghanistan. I'm an EA-6B Prowler mechanic. I love hunting, shooting for fun, and have been doing some reloading. I've been searching throught he boards for a while, and figured I should actually register. Lots of great info and people here.

Hello, I'm new to THR today. I shoot my Remington 870 okay at traps, and tried my new XDm .40 at the range last weekend, with marginal success. I am a native Houstonian with a long Texan heritage. My instructor let me shoot his Ruger MKII .22 and it was fun because I hit 95% vs. about 60% with my .40. I want one now, maybe a KMK-678GC? Any advice? Good to be here, the best on the internet I've found. I am a self-employed architect with a new hobby that aligns with my core values. Thanks, m

Ex US Army, US Coast Guard and soon to be ex LEO. Retire officially on July the 3rd. It was fun, but now am looking to have some time to have MORE fun. I hunt, fish, play guitar, take photos, camp, shoot, reload, and tinker with guns. Handgun hunter for 30 years and hope to get a few more in as well. Currently in Texas rehabing from an operation I had back in January to remove a cancerous kidney. Hope to be headed home to my mountains in July. I miss them and the grandkids. Life Member of the NRA, and member of the Friends of the NRA Banquet Committee in Colorado Springs. Thanks to a great forum and visit the one in my signature every now and then.
 
Hello from west Ohio. Found this site looking for info on stovepipe problems on my 10/22. They got me fixed right up,Volquartsen extractor did the trick. Thought I'd sign up and hang around from time to time.

Last Friday I purchased a new 27, Saturday I used it to take my CHL renewal.

I have a Clark Custom .45 1911 that I usually use to take the CHL Qualification.

The Glock was not up to my 45. Hopefully I can get used to the weird trigger.

The CHL requires 50 rounds of fire and even though the Glock was brand new I did not experience a misfire.

It has a lot of kick! More than my 45.

I am impressed with the quality of the little weapon. It is the first time I have ever fired a Glock.

This looks like a very friendly forum, hopefully I can learn more about my Glock.

I am retired military and retired Lockheed Martin engineer. Now I am just tired.

Petron is a line of lube that I have sold for the past 19 years. Prior to my back surgery I worked car shows part time. I sell my Super Lube to several weapons stores in Ft. Worth.

My residence is a few miles west of Ft. Worth, TX.

I have several weapons but I will not list them here in case in fear commrade obambi would have his brown shirts monitor the forum.

In 1935 Hitler forced everyone to register all their weapons and in 1937, the brown shirts went door to door collecting weapons.

I fear history will repeat itself. I hope not but there a lot of things that do not look right.

and hello! I've wandered in and out of the forum for a while, but I've finally gotten up the nerve to register. I'm a machinist by trade, an occasional back yard mechanic, and an avid recreational shooter. My collection and interest ranges from little .22 mouse guns, to big old mil-surp rifles. I'm a real do-it-yourself kind of guy, so I enjoy learning and contributing as much as I can and am always open to new ideas. Since this board seems to have an inexhaustible wellspring of collective knowledge, I hope to take part in many a discussion here. :D

Howdy gents (and ladies). New here from Houston, TX. Just got my new Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm and LOVE it! Had the 92FS prior but decided to upgrade a bit.

I've recently been bitten by the gun-freak bug and find myself wanting to buy most guns I see (much to the lament of my wife - not a gun fan). I find myself being drawn toward the Beretta family with the Tikka T3 Tactical being next on my list so I can take up hunting down here followed by most likely the Urika2. I also like the CX4 Storm in that it is interchangible with my new pistol.

Others on the wish list would include the Saiga 12 and AR-57. Doubt I'll ever see those in my collection though. Anyways, That's a little about my interests here. Looking forward to some valuable information from all of your collective experiences!

I am a new member. Just started reloading brass. Many years ago I reloaded shotgun shells (12 & 20 ga.). I have spent the last 3-4 months surfing the web, looking for info. Stumbled on this website and recognised that it was the best I had seen. I have learned very much reading the various threads. Please accept a belated Thank You for sharing your experience and knowledge to all.

I am 73 yrs old, married, have two grown children and 5 grandchildren. My wife and are raising a 7 yr. old granddaughter that we have adopted. (there went my retirement!). Back in my working years I worked in the oil industry as a petoleum geologist and engineer. Spent about 40 or so wonderful years doing this.

I reload 9mm, 357/38special, and 45auto. Again, thanks for sharing your information.

I discovered this place when researching an old friend , Dean Grennell who has passed away, seemed like my kind of place. Spent many years as Grennell's apprentice while he was at Gun World, and have a great love for anything that shoots and even for many that do not. I have many true stories of adventures that Dean and i took to test some new gadget, gun or loading. Maybe it is time to share some of them.
 
I'm new here guys and gals so bear (no pun intended) with me. I have been around guns longer than most of you have been in existence. Over sixty years ago, my brother and myself put a slug from a 22 into a target at a turkey shoot. I shot second and the spotter hollered : "miss" I made him take a second look and mine was on top of my brothers in dead center. I let my brother have that turkey as I already had a couple. I recently bought a Glock 23 but ammo is so expensive around here that i don't shoot is much. I have applied for a conceaqled weapons permit here in Florida and feel the need to protect myself with all the violence going on around here. I'll be around.
 
Hello, I'm a new guy here, I'm from NE. Ohio and I just wanted to say Hi.

I am very interested in all forms of firearms. I like to read about them and love to go to the range, every chance I get.

I like to read Gun fourms, they give me good idea's that sometimes, I might not have thought of on my own.

I have been in to the safe practice of firearms for 19 years now, and I can't get enough of them. I love to go to Gun Shows and Machine Gun Shoots, when I am able to.

I am a new member. Used to be on this forum back in college in the '99-03' timeframe (shot non-competitive .22 with the rifle and pistol team with S&W 41's), but got out of shooting for a bit (got married, sold my Colt Government Model that had only 500 rounds through it to a buddy for $350 - still kicking myself) ... forgot my username and password and it was registered with my college email, so I am starting fresh six years later.

Since then I am active duty USAF with 5yrs in, qualified with the M9 when I commissioned, but we don't get to shoot until right before we deploy (dumb). So I am planning on getting an M9/92FS to at least stay current on my own time.

Currently at WPAFB in Dayton, OH.

Decided to join this forum, there is an abundance of information and some knowledgeable users. My name is Terry and I live in far south Florida. I've been interested in firearms for a number and have owned a variety of weapons. I just got into IDPA shooting last year. Enjoy getting out to the range whenever I can. I have shot black powder until the club I was in moved north. My latest is a S&W M&P 9 full size and I love it !

Hello, everyone. Im new to THR, but have been reading it off and on for years.

Using it for information and opinions.

I'm a lifelong hunter. Got my first .22 when I was four and I have been funding the gun manufacturers ever since. I love to shoot. Cut my teeth on a model 12 remington and a winchester 94 22mag. Spent most of my life using .22 pumps and old deer rifles until i got old enough to afford and handle my own preferences. My dad is an old logger/cowboy/engineer that taught me and thats probably why I always go back to large bore revolvers, lever action rifles, and pump shotguns.

Have had my concealed carry for a year or two now. Always got my S&W 686 where I can get to it. If not it, I got one of my Kimber 1911s hitched on my belt.

My primary tastes in semi autos are kimber 1911s. I love 45acp. when i was a lil boy i dreamed about owning a colt45 like my grandpas service pistol. by the time i was 21, i knew i was gonna buy myself a kimber. Proud owner of a pair of Grand Raptors. Also appreciate Sigs and love to play around with my walthers.

For self defense and carry, I do love my S&W revolvers. both my dad and i own a few. gotta love them.

Love cowboy guns. Have worked as the head weapons wrangler on a western television show. love black powder, single actions, lever guns, coach guns, ole dog eared shotguns. anything from the old west, i like to read up on and wish i owned. dream of owning a schofield 45.

For rifles, I love my souped up 10/22 for fun, but for business I love lever guns. I'm right handed, left eye dominant, so bolt actions can be an annoyance to me. I refuse to conform so, i stick to my lever guns. b/c of my cross dominance, my dad taught me to shoot with either hand, so levers work good for me. Semi autos are great, but i just love the feel of a heavy lever rifle. that action slapping open and closed is reassuring to me.

In shotguns I stick to old remington. I know they may not be the best, but i love my 870s. i collect and customize them for fun and friends. love my 12 guage jeep gun. its good medicine for deer, snakes, locks, turtles, hobos, dinosaurs, nazis, zombies, and anything else i run across. love to get an old lever action 10 guage. someday ,... someday.

pretty much if its mechanically sound and goes bang, I have shot it or will shoot it. I've been in law enforcement some, worked in film, and love to just randomly go plinking. do a lil kitchen table gunsmithing, but i know my limitations. considering taking some gunsmithing classes. after writing down these hastily jotted nots about myself, I realize something.

im a gun nut. anybody got a problem with that?

hey I'm dancingbear, and I spend my time between the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the great semi-communist state of Ohio. I'm more into modern weapons the 5x7 by .28 is probably my favorite round right now, it's fast and it packs a bit of a punch for such a little round. But I also own a(steadily growing) collection of guns that is as varied as my music selection. I carry a XD-40 SC or a Bersa Thunder .380 CC depending on my clothing options and the weather. I have a Mossberg 500T for home defense and general knocking about, a DPMS Sportical with an Eotech 511 and a UTG green dot and flashlight so I can reach out and touch things. I keep a Taurus Judge close by when I'm at home loaded with .410 slug and double ought, just for sh--s and giggles. As last ditch back up I have a Charter Arms .38 spl loaded with +P and a CTC handgrip. Am presently looking at upgrading my fire power to include a .45 acp. Not sure which one yet the XD's are a really good weapon and handle exceedingly well, but the venerable 1911 is as of late catching my attention. But enough about me, glad to be here and all that
 
Howdy all. Been lurking for a while. Found many great posts while researching my consideration for a 2nd hand gun, a 1911. I came across someone with a question, and joined to attempt an answer.

I am a new shooter. Bought a Taurus PT145 MilPro in January. I have about 700 rounds through it at this time. Love it.
