Stroll on the Las Vegas Strip with Guns

my parents live in LV, maybe it's a good idea but maybe a better would be to peacefully gather in front of the State assembly?

That's all I need is a carry violation! Even a misdemeanor, is bye-bye, concealed carry permit. Stupid idea!

Some actions are perfectly legal, but probably not very effective.


Friend, it is difficult to expect local residents to be very interested in your problem and join your demonstration. Your problem is that you are not a resident and don't have a Nevada Concealed Firearms Permit. Perhaps a group of non-residents would be more willing to help you.

No, the LV administration has no jurisdiction on The Strip. It is in Clark County, not the city of Las Vegas. Do your research on Clark County and you will find out what you'll be detained for. You seem like a nice guy, but you probably need to get more facts straight before organizing an effective demonstration.

The plan is to wander up and down the strip for a bit, enjoying the sights, talking guns and handing out flyers to those interested in learning about RKBA.

I doubt any 'local residents' would ever have any reason to experience the disgusting idiocy and grotesque of 'the strip' to even be present.


I have had nothing to do with the Las Vegas Strip for about 25 years now..or since the mid '80s anyway.

I avoid it at all costs.


No one I know who lives here ever goes near it.



Various 'rulings' have also established, that the Sidewalks or other pedestrian walkways are all the private Property of the Hotels and Casinos...so, probably, logistially, aside from the asphalt Street paving itself, the 'Strip' offers no actual 'Public' property for anyone to do any sort of activism or other demonstration in or on.


No matter where one may be on the Strip...unless in the Roadway itself, one is 'on' private property, and is subject to whatever conditions the property owners happen to have.

I'm not sure about Nevada, but most places consider a certain distance from the center of a public roadway to be public property. Usually it's a good amount wider than the actual paved surface of the road.

I'm sure there are tons of privately owned walkways, pedestrian bridges, etc etc all over that place though so you would have to do some homework and pick the right place to do it.

humm..... I can see it on all the communist controlled media outlets.. MSNBC NBC ABC.. Armed Extremists march on Las Vegas..... all 20 were arrested none had valid permits.... Just campaign against whoever put forth the policy or law and make their names public on message boards. Report them to the NRA and here. Also carbon copy all of this to their email so they can see what kind of outrage their policy has made... but most likely they just want the extra revinue because the State is trying anything to make up for their budget shortfall. Im sure if you live in Navada then you will soon be taxed on the air you breathe of you are not already.

The 'Strip' is continuously swarmed and chocked full with idiot tourists from all over the world...wan and sorry gumpers gawking till exhaustion in their sagging baggy shorts and logo/statement tee-shirts, lumpy sodden wives and annoying children by-the-hand.


Traffic is a consant traffic-jam.


Metro, is probably at their perpetual friendliest and most gentle and patient and vigilant in various Bicycle and other patrolling of this unsightly and perpetual swarm of humanities margainal least.


It is simply a very bad setting to intend any Open Carry 'demonstration'.


The tourists will not understand...some may panic...all of the sidewalks are the private property of the Casinos, whose Security personel would have the right legally to apprehend or subdue anyone violating their proprietary rules of demeanor...and no matter how you slice it, the gesture is not suited to the realities of location, setting, and milieu.


Metro and Casino/Hotel Security people are very observant of anyone intimating cues or hints of any sort of threat, scam, or prologues of robbery or mayhem...or anyone appearing to be not-tracking or not keeping themselves in line with what is 'acceptable'...they are very observant of what they feel may be 'Nut Cases' who are out-of-step with 'appropriate' self-regulation.


It's their 'turf'...it is not a 'public' thoroughfare belonging to the Public, in any usual sense.

As its already been said tourist will not get the point, and the only attention you will get is from police and thats not good for anyone. BAD IDEA. If you really must do this then go to a less tourist populated place that is still busy this may help you get the right kind of attention.

Is there anywhere you can carry concealed (with a valid permit) ON the strip?

I think everybody here is behind your good intentions. We just don't want to see your efforts backfire. We share your frustration and disgust. But having a poorly thought out (though well meaning) plan blow up in your face could set us back years or decades. Bad press painting us as gun nuts is far more costly than what seems like inaction. Pick your fights and where you fight them wisely.

Don't whine about gun owners. This was an iffy idea to begin with.

Now I understand how gun owners really behave when it comes to standing up for their rights. I shouldn't be surprised since so few will show up for self-defense training.

I've never been arrested. Don't know what the inside of a jail looks like. I'd just as soon keep it that way.

Please don't accuse the rest of us of cowardice if our goal is to be law abiding citizens.

If you feel like you've been wronged, you do what you need to do.
