I done some searches here and on the S&W Forum and haven't had much luck. Got to fire 5 rounds thru a stainless and liked it very much, but other than reading a bit I don't have much info.

I'm used to striker fired M&P but got kind of interested in the SA/DA hammer fired pistols after firing this one. Please forgive my ignorance here, just trying to learn. Looks like a nice low priced 9mm from a US mfg.

Appreciate your help

Dave

I had one for a while and I kind of regret trading it away. It was combat accurate and was a good gun for the price.

I traded my S&W Sigma for one, boy what a difference! No problems at all, good trigger and fairly accurate to boot. The Sigma would put a mag's worth in a 6in group at 7 yards, but the 910 can put a 2 inch group dead center with fast shooting. Plus extra mags are alot cheaper. The Sigmas were running $40 a piece but you can get MecGar 910 mags for about $23

Thanks for the replys

Not many people I talk to know the gun but the one's that do like it. I may be able to get a S&W refurbished model, not sure yet, but looks like a bargin.

Thanks

Dave

Had one briefly that I picked up as part of a trade. I fired 50rnds through it and it was, as others said, combat accurate and ran 100% in my limited experience. Nice weapon for the price I think. The DA on mine was long but smooth, and the SA was crisp. I sold it to a friend who was looking for a first handgun and he is still pleased with it.

I own 3 9mm's (SIG P226, P6 and S&W910). Once I put a hogue grip on the S&W 910, this thing out shoots my P6 and is nipping at the heels of my P226. Dollar for dollar the S&W 910 is a great pistol! Oh ya, I forgot to mention that it is a garbage disposal of a 9mm...it shoots ANYTHING...reloads, Amerc, wolf and blazer!

My 910S has been a great gun. CDNN had new 15 round Mec-Gar mags for $19.99 last time I checked.

My 1st post. I love the 1911 platform , especially the trigger. I shoot IPSC production class. The 910 I use is as close to the 1911 in trigger reset as I have found. I took 1st place in a match yesterday with mine. 120 rnds no failures of any kind. The first shot is long, but smooth and I mentally adjust my finger and stay on the trigger for double taps. All I can say is no other da/sa (ruger,hk,sig,cz etc) even comes close.

I had a 410 (the .40 equivalent) and was not disappointed. The only reason I got rid of it was the fact that I was offered $150 more than what I paid for it. I don't think you'll be sorry if you buy a 910.

The 910 is in the 9mm "value line" series of the S&W 3rd generation line up. I don't think they are being made any more even though S&W shows the gun on their website. If you are thinking of buying a used gun you would probably be better off getting a gun in the 59XX series. There are good buys in police trade-ins available. The 5903 is the fancy and more desirable third generation equivalent of the 910S/915 series. You can expect all of these guns to be very reliable and all have the backing of S&W customer service which is about the best there is.

I checked the Smith and Wesson website. Currently, the metal-frame traditional DA autos like the 910 (and the TSW line) are still being made for Law Enforcement.

I really would love to see the 910 and 908 in full release again, or barring that, a DA/SA version of the 952, maybe call it the Model 639. ;)

third gen S&W auto's are the hidden gem of the handgun world. Instead of a new 910 I would go for a used 5906. Better sights, better finish, no MIM(if older), and a better price.

I have it's little brother, a 908s.

Only thing I've changed is to replace the stock plastic grips with Hogue rubber - they just feel better. It's a fine pistol. Reliable, accurate, not at all choosy about ammo. Being a single stack, it's also nice and compact.

I've got a 5906 which was already said is technically the more "fancy" version of that gun. I've never talked to anybody that knew any large differences though. If you plan on carrying the gun at all consider something with a lightweight aluminum frame such as your 910 or a 5903 like was previously posted vs the stainless frame of the 5906. Either one of these guns will accept Mec-Gar's 17 round magazines and old smith mags are cheap and easy to find as well.

If your looking for something extremely similar yet a little smaller look at a 6906 which is basically the same gun with a 3.5" barrel vs 4" on the 5903/910 and has a smaller grip that is still very comfortable that holds 12 rounds.

I've had experience with most of those guns and all perform very well. My 5906 is virtually bulletproof and has NEVER had any kind of malfunction no matter what magazine or ammunition is used.

+1 on the 5906. I had a 5906TSW that I sold to a buddy and I'm now wishing I could get it back. I owned a 915 for a while, but I didn't think it felt as solid or substantial as the 5906. Of course, if you're looking for a carry weapon, the lighter alloy of the 910/915 might not be a bad thing. Bottom line, I agree that the 3rd Gen S&W semi-autos are way underrated and underappreciated. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I fired the single stack one at my bachelor party, 908 I believe, and was very impressed with it. I would recommend one, or any of its siblings, without a second thought.
