Should I sell my J-frame?

Maybe it's the grip you have on your wheelgun?? I have been carrying a j frame w/ boot grips for years -- front pocket w/ or w/o a holster and no one is the wiser

In a word, yes! To me. :D

If you sell it, you will regret it later. Pre lock J-Frames are getting
more expensive every day.

Keep it, but, if you really need to sell it, send me a price via e-mail.

I can't currently conceal it well.

A J frame is one of the most concealable handguns with the most power available. IWB, OWB, or ankle is how I've carried one for years and only recently used a pocket holster. If you have over oversized grips I can see that being a problem.

in all seriousness...

if you DON'T want to sell it, you can always stash it in a sock drawer, in a nightstand drawer, in your glove compartment, loaded as a stash gun in your gun safe/gun cabinet, etc

if you DO want to sell it, list it in the classified section of THR or post it on gunbroker or auction arms; I currently have 2 j-frames (my 642 and my dad's "handed down" 642) or I would PM you with a very good offer; good luck with your decision

carry mode

If you can't conceal a J frame in your pocket, then unless you buy different pants, you need to change a carry mode or carry something smaller , such as the Ruger LCR .380 ACP. Or keep the J frame and carry it in the waist band style.

If you wear pants where the pocket opening is vertical like chinos or dress pants, the grip can be visible. The pocket opening on jeans is usually horizontal, but that also means the hole is smaller and harder to pull the gun out.

Chinos and J-frames are a match made in heaven.:)

The boot grip may be visible if someone sidles up to you and looks down into your pocket at just the right time. So can anything else in your pocket.

This has absolutely NEVER been a problem for me, though.

If you don't like the gun it will be easy to sell. I have often carried an all steel J frame. You just need a good holster, and the right size pockets.

Just went to a gun shop a few minutes ago, looking for a new blank pistol for dog training. Of course, I browsed the other guns they had...

Saw a couple of 6-shot 442s in .32 H&R Magnum, which I hadn't seen before. The guy showing them to me was telling me about how easy it is to pocket carry the things without anyone noticing. I told him I knew, and laughed to myself. I had a 642 in the pocket of my shorts; clearly, he didn't notice.:D

I have always found the Airweight J-frame to be an excellent pocket gun.

However, if it doesn't work that way for you (and if you are going to carry IWB, there is no reason not to carry something bigger and/or more powerful), I can make one suggestion: Ankle Holster.

No, its not the best way to carry a primary weapon, but for a BUG, or easy access while seated (especially in a car) its hard to be an ankle holster. Its light enough to make you forget its there, and even if it gets covered with dust and such from being carried close to the ground, it will still fire.

Don't get rid of it!

Cabelas, Bass Pro - etc. sell nice cargo pants and short that easily conceal a J.

So your butt won't stick out. :barf:

If you don't like the gun it will be easy to sell

Don't know about that. I spent 3 hours wandering around the gunshow yesterday with a sign that read "For Sale, j frame, model 36, "no dash""

Only one non-dealer even asked about it

I've come to a decision. Given that it serves no use for me other than to supplement my collection (if its something I'm not going to carry, it needs to suit me for home defense or the range, and if I'm going to use something for home defense, it might as well carry more than 5 rounds), I'm going to sell it to a friend of mine for the same price a dealer would pay me for it. I figure that's fair, and he'll get a lot of use out of it because he's able to carry a bag around with him and keep it in the bag. He's used to carrying a J-frame in that manner but could use the lighter weight of the Airlite version.
I'll take my money and put it toward either an SA XD SC .40 or a SW M&P 40c.
Everyone wins.

To set the record straight, I don't wear emo pants, and have stock grips (but the *frame* of the butt sticks out of the pocket).
