I'm looking forward to scoring a copy of my own.

I pre-ordered a copy a week or so ago from Amazon, no idea if it has come in yet, as I'm out to sea at the moment.

I read the first seven chapters online, and was hooked, so had to buy the book Can't wait to finish it.

Just ordered my copy. Cant wait to read it.

Bought it and read it off of Baen's online library. Good read; now get cracking on the sequel.

Any word on the publication date of MHI2?

My GF went out and bought the paperback edition even though we have the POD version (and patch, thank you Larry ) and immediately sat down and reread it.

The opening to your novel sounds reminiscent of Fight Club or Wanted but with monsters instead of people in the future. If its the mix of Fight Club (working guy in an insane situation elevating him beyond his imagination) and Sanctuary (random monster hunting, kinda like Slash Hack comics). It sounds quite good and I shall consider it greatly for purchase... now to cash my paycheck.

Anyone have some links to a little more background on what this is all about?

I read the sample chapters posted a few months ago and have been eagerly waiting ever since. My copy shipped this morning

Bought the last copy at Borders on Tuesday.

Started it last night around 8:00 PM.

Finished it this morning.

"'How many guns do you have?' he asked in exasperation.
"'Lots.' CRACK."

Outstanding.

I do have to add, if only to prove my inborn geekery, that another author, Nick Pollotta, did a series about a similar monster-hunter team titled Bureau 13 that was first published in the early '90's(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Pollotta) - however, there are certain differences between Bureau 13 and MHI:

- Unlike the private-sector MHI team, Bureau 13's monster-hunters are all Federal agents(like the Monster Control Bureau), although they are quite similar in other respects(ethnically diverse, happy-go-lucky survivors of monster attacks recruited to protect an unknowing America from supernatural threats);

- The plot of MHI is much more fully realized than the Bureau 13 books, which read like a fictionalized synopsis of a particularly good campaign in a paper-'n-dice TSR role-playing game(which Bureau 13 is actually based on);

- The MHI characters are much more three-dimensional than Pollotta's Bureau 13 team, which, again, read like RPG character sheets;

- The technical details regarding firearms in MHI are significantly more accurate than in Bureau 13(major gaffe: the "S&W Model 42 ultra-lightweight .357 Magnum revolver).

Now, having gotten that off my chest - I just gotta read the sequel(s)...
