please help!!!

If I'm reading your post correctly, you've made a very serious error.

Your SKS rifle is chambered to fire 7.62x39mm ammunition. Not .223 Remington.

Use the right ammo and you will not have this problem.

You've been fortunate not to suffer any injury to yourself or damage to the gun by firing the wrong caliber and chambering in your gun.

Some info on the correct cartridge: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62x39
Some info on your gun: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sks

I second Sam's idea. Please please shoot the correct ammunition in your safety, and everyone else's.

Holy Zoinks!

Yeah, if you are using .223 rounds in this gun, you are playing with fire. I dont know of any variants of the SKS that are .223 based.

I'm thinking he really did it, or knows enough about guns to know it "could" be done.

The .223 case-head to shoulder length (1.557") is close enough to the 7.62x39 case-head to rifling leade length (1.528") that I believe you could pretty easily pound one in the chamber with the SKS bolt handle.
The crush fit would hold it back against the bolt face so the firing pin would hit it.

There would be very little danger, as there would be no real chamber pressure developed.

The .224 bullet would just rattle down the .310" barrel and all the gas pressure would just leak past it.

Of course, there is little chance the extractor would hook the much smaller .223 case rim to extract it after you beat it in there and fired it.

The end result would be exactly what he said it is.

Not good!
Well, that's probably better than what my sis did. She was complaining of how hard her 12 gauge (single shot "truck" gun) was kicking. She had never complained before, so I was curious. :scrutiny: I found that besides the loose/worn hinge pin, she was shooting 3" mags in a 2-3/4" chamber. That's bound to get your attention! We had to do a bit of re-edumakashun. :p

Another member tested and reported: "Ok I tried it. Bolt misses even fully closing by at least a quarter inch. The case hangs up on the bottom of the shoulder right in the back of the chamber throat."
