I came across an anti-gun "public service announcement" on the radio last night. Turn's out that Richard Daley, Kaiser of Chicago, is pushing his propaganda again. Not suprisingly, Michael Pfleger's St. Sabina Church is participating in this event. For those who don't know, Rev. Pfleger led an anti-gun demonstration in front of a gun store and called for the murder of the store's owner.

Odds are this is a benign event, but thought it was worth a mention.
More information (propaganda) is available here:

There's a message board on the one promoter site if anyone wanted to give feedback.

Note that you never see a "Turn in your controlled substances" or a "Turn in your counterfeit money" event.

Check out this thread here on THR. Templar223 talks about the last one. I sent him a PM on this thread; maybe they'll do it again!

Interestingly enough, dontkilladream.org is registered to the Chicago PD.

These gun turn-ins remind me of the Cash for Clunkers program. It's actually a great deal for gun manufacturers because it removes old supply to make way for increased demand of new supply.

Too bad I don't live nearby. I'd buy tons of cheap, scrap guns and make a 200% profit.
According to the fine print on their website you get a prepaid master card worth $100 for an "assault weapon", $50 for a "gun", and $10 for a BB gun so you'd need a pretty cheap source to make any money on the deal.

One hundred bucks for "assault weapons"? Man, I should go and start offering one fifty. Are FTF "Assault Weapon" transactions allowed in Kenya.... er.. Chicago?

Gosh, now that I look at that some more, it says that they'll give $10 for BB guns, "replicas" or air guns. Why the hell would they do that?

Also, maybe I could just set up and buy the receivers from the people, offer them $100, then they could tyr to re-sell the rest of the parts as a complete gun.

It makes for more objects that look like guns on their Table O' Death photo-op they'll show on the news and in the papers afterwards making it seem like the event was more successful. They are hoping people will turn in their kid's toy Uzis and AKs and prominently display them so to the untrianed eye it looks like they got machine guns "off the streets."

Damn, Chicago is cheap. $10 for a BB gun(got quite a few garbage ones)......that's not even worth the time to drive their and the money I'd spend on gas.

I've went to several of these in the St. Louis area, and have been run off from every one.

The first one I was asked by an officer at the door, "Do you have any firearms?"
So I answered, "Yes." and tried to walk into the building.
"Hold it...Hold it....can I see it?", he asked.

So I raised my shirt and showed him my STI in it's holster.

He reached for it, then paused (I saw the light go on in his eyes) then put his hand back down.

"You can't come in.", he warned me.

"But it's a public venue" I said.

"If you're not here to turn in a weapon, you'll have to leave.", he replied.

So I walked back out to my car and leaned on it. Five minutes later, he was there (With his badge set on @$$#*!&) "I thought I told you to leave? You wanna be arrested for loitering?"

So I left.

I went across the street to a gas station and talked to a couple of cops waiting there in the parking lot. Evidently, they were staking out the parking lot and were there to arrest anyone buying guns (FTF sales) in the parking lot. I didn't ask them how (since FTF sales are perfectly legal) since I had my fill of blue shirts and shiny leather for the day.

While I was there, I saw enough to make a THR member cry. (Some older gentleman was having his S&W Model 10 checked for safe at the door as I was leaving.)

Yeah. $50 to melt down a Model 10.

Then: AN IDEA!

Since these buybacks are simply a case of the gov't raping the people.....

......Wouldn't it be a great idea to set up a table (somewhere out of legal "reach") with a great big sign saying:

FREE FIREARM APPRAISALS!

You could bring several appraisal books and maybe a "Big Book of Gun Values" and just kindly inform your fellow citizens of what their guns are really worth and explain how they could get it, if they just dropped by their local firarms dealer.

I wonder how this would go over? Good idea?

I'm going to stop in, I have an old AR7 with a broken stock and bad safety, it still actually shoots, just a piece of junk. Paid $25 for it, but hey, its an "Assult Rifle"!! Haha, suckers! going to find some more junk and take it with me!

I like the appraisal idea.

I also note that the day of the turn in was tax day, and the day of the Tea Parties. I wonder if there was any hope to distract the Tea Party folks or at least the media from the Tea Party folks.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

chicago: there is a ban on all hand guns:confused:

chicago: there is a shooting victim every day:eek:

eventually they may figure it out:rolleyes:

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work for a large city hospital and during a class on public safety/ active shooter in the facility (a well done class by our excellent police force) there was a photograph of several tables containing the "GUNS" confiscated in our facility.

Gasps and murmurs could be heard throughout the room at the amount of "fire arms" in the picture. I spotted NUMEROUS BB/pellet guns/rifles in the picture....but it sure added to the effect!

The only guns these types of programs get are HUGE POS guns that are rusted shut and have not fired a bullet in over 40 years.

They ought to call them POS rusty non firing gun amnesty buyback.

Our tax dollars hard at work.

Giving one of the most corrupt organizations in the country a cheap supply of weapons is a good idea? God help us when we become the United State of Chicago.
We are already on our way to becoming the US of Chicago - run by a bunch of new thugs in DC.

These gun buy backs have been a horrid joke since their creation , if you catch a photo opt of the organizers and a line of people waiting to "turn in" a gun what do you see ? Nothing but either elderly who desperately need the money to survive or women who look like they're half strung out or hungover .

I live in Chicago. Phleger is a disgrace to my Church and Chicago, if that's possible. I'm going to steal my kids' toy guns and see if we can't raise some dough.
