However, for the ATF, the possession of an explosive device is another matter all together. Except under the rarest of circumstances, it is against the law to own an explosive device.

Nonsense, explosives are the same as the machine guns, and just as legal to own. Destructive devices are NFA items as well. Pay the NFA tax and you can have all the grenades you want.

It's at least POSSIBLE that everything was legally owned and tax paid, except the pot.

They will hang him for that just to make an example.

(f) Destructive device. The term 'destructive
device' means (1) any explosive,
incendiary, or poison gas (A) bomb,
(B) grenade, (C) rocket having a propellant
charge of more than four ounces, (D)
missile having an explosive or incendiary
charge of more than one-quarter ounce,
(E) mine, or (F) similar device;

That's what I figured

From the article:

Eyewitness News learned owning fully automatic weapons are legal under certain circumstances.

Really? As much reporting on "weapons" and "assualt rifles" and "arsenals" as they do and they just now learned that full auto can be owned legally under certain circumstances? How many years has the law been like it is now?

The term "arsenal" on any major news outlet just makes me glaze over, as it pretty much covers anything other than a single shot with 4 shells in the butt cuff.

The explosives could really be anything from a combination of normal household chemicals such as drano that everyone has in their household to C4 or anything in between.

Why do I get this mental image of firing off a semi-auto in the nude and hot brass landing in the persons lap?

I don't know. Why DO you get that mental image! :what:

Traditionally an "armory" is where weapons are stored, not an "arsenal". An arsenal is where weapons were made.

But now just reading the latest dictionary definition online, it looks like the news media has managed to get the definition of armory changed to include a place where weapons are stored as well as made, because of constant misuse of the term by uneducated anti-gun reporters.

This is the same as they managed to do years ago in redefining "civilians" to exclude sworn officers of law enforcement.

It's all about changing the language.
