Anyone else watching this show. I love it!!!

He does all the stuff I want to do. Have a tank? Lets shoot old cars with it!

Plus every show so far seems to have a theme about the history and evolution of the specific topic. Tonight was the pistol.

P.S. I searched and couldnt find another thread incase one has already been made.

Yea ive caught a few episodes. Pretty cool show, I was a fan of his older show Mail Call as well. The episode on artillery was great, the slo-mo shots of those old cannons going off was pretty awesome.

A+++++ for the show, only saw the machine gun one, an the tanks,,,brought
back good memories of shooting watermelon, but Gunny had a much cooler gun
than my 22/250.

This is R. Lee's best show yet. More history, better graphics and a little less of his DI schtick.

I haven't seen all of the pistol episode, but did notice the animation of the guts of a Colt 1911. I put that on the DVR for further study. Way cool.

I watched the tank and artillery episodes last night. Couldn't quite convince my wife that I needed an original Renault tank, though. That thing was too cool.

In the episode on handguns he did a segment on the Glock 18 and called it the most advanced gun ever, etc. I'm sure it was an innocent oversight that they neglected to mention that Ermey is a paid spokesman for Glock.

R.Lee is cool, just love the guy. He is one of the few celebrities I'd love to meet in person......I just finished watching "Lock & Load"....had it saved on my DVR. Him being so partial to the 1911 .45 acp as a service weapon.....I loved how he humorously did'nt want to touch the Beretta 9mm when it was handed to him!:D

Even as an aged Marine....still looks damn good in his blues don't he?

Sat up till the wee hours this morning to catch the handgun episode. First rate as always. Gunny is still one hell of a marksman. How many guys could hit the target from a moving motorcycle like that?

History Channel has the "Artillery" episode on its website - and Hulu has the "Machine Gun" show, but its in sections. Can't find any others.

I thought the part on the pistol episode where it showed a slo-motion capture of the Glock 18 was neat. You could see the extended portion under the front of the slide jiggle like jello with each shot fired. I also loved the tank episode when he fired the cannon on the Hellcat tank destroyer, the look on his face was hilarious.

Typically people like to endorse things they like. R Lee Ermey does not just endorse glock, he is a big glock fan. Its his show, and I am sure, in his opinion it is the most advanced handgun ever.

I have watched several episodes and really like the show. I agree he is one guy I would like to meet.

On the handgun show he did confuse me. In one show he said the 1911 was his all time favorite pistol, and then when on to make comments on the Glock.
So we should assume the 1911 is his favorite, but he like the Glock for its modern appeal?

And I also agree, he should set a better example on muzzle control.

I am watching the machine gun episode right now, if I am not mistaken, he has ear plugs that look like shell casings, or maybe they ARE actual casings?

Crazy old men!

hah the french gun jammed on him in 4 rounds, nice french bash....nice transition to an american made browning!

He's so real. He fired the .50 cal S&W and said something to the effect of "That's it for me..no more with that!" Then 10 sec. later, after a few more shots...he's saying.."oh, I gotta get me one of these!" You can see the muscles ripple down the arm in slo mo that sucker is such a monster.

I like his 2nd horse as well. That would be more my speed! Ampted my respect for the true cowboy of the old west a bunch! From a moving horse? Shoot!

He does love his 1911 Colt .45 ACP

Don't laugh, but watching "Siege of Firebase Gloria" 20 years ago was when I learned from a friend he was the real deal.

Undoubtedly, they are shell cases.

Back in the day, that's all we had.

I went in the service in 1964, and it was 1969 before I saw my first pair of GI issue ear-plugs.

We used cigarette butts or empty brass, when we could get away with it.
The DI's would ream you good if they caught you using any ear protection though.

I'll never forget coming of the 105mm Recoiless Rifle range with blood running out of my ears!

WHAT?

Earplugs...

I too am enjoying the R. Lee Ermey shows re. various weapons and their histories.

IMHO, it would be nice if the owner of the weapon, the one who paid for it and has maintained it in pristine shape, were the one who gets to fire it on TV, but, well, Ermey is the star and he gets to BE the star.

That said, otherwise the show is both entertaining and educational, and I appreciate both. Have seen the artillery, tanks, and machine guns shows, and have the pistols show recorded. Will catch it when I have time.

Machine guns: Wish the show had included Da Vinci's multi-bbl cannon--a dozen small bbls (maybe .50 cal.) side by side, on a rotating rack with 3 such racks--one rack to fire, one rack cooling, one rack being reloaded. Gee whiz--he went back to Da Vinci's tank! Also would have liked to see the "potato digger" machine gun in action. Ah, well, you can only get so much into an hour show, and what they did show was darn nice.

Re: the earplugs: There is a style of earplug, which has a plastic inner end that goes into the ear canal, and a metal outer end that protrudes from the ear just a small distance. No experience with these (I favor muffs, myself) but they are a HECK of a lot more effective than .45 empties. I think this type of plug is what The Gunny is wearing.

I consider R. Lee Ermey an American treasure, on par with John Wayne.

Love anything he does. :D

Gunny came to my unit to film and episode recently and I got to meet him in person. He's one of my favorite Hollywood actors/people.

love the show. did anybody else notice that he pointed a loaded pistol at the camera. it is the single action, they edit it at some point because it seems to be cocked when he first starts to aim it at the camera, then he talks, when he turns to shoot he has to cock it. I understand shooting glass for the effect, but now everybody will do it.
