MetroArms budget .45 - "American Classic II Deluxe"

This is what I found when I opened the box.

To the range tomorrow...this is what I found when the package arrived at my FFL this afternoon.

My local FFL knows more about 1911's than I do, and he was impressed with the action, trigger, fit and finish.

I'll shoot it tomorrow, then drop it off with my gunsmith for his inspection and counsel.

Grips will be changed.

There's just something about owning my first 1911. Feels like a real semiauto pistol. It's not a Wilson, Baer, or Gold Cup, but if it fits my needs I'll work my way up to a premium 1911.
 
Don't mind at all. I paid all the money and spent $449 on Gunbroker. I've only seen a couple of the AC II Deluxe's lately, so I just hauled off and snagged one.

I was feeling flush since I sold my HK last Wednesday night and did pretty good on it.
 
Where was it made? My bad eyes can't read what's on the frame. It looks exactly like a Firestorm that a friend has in his store, Which is made by Armscor (RIA). Same trigger, hammer and slide serrations. Armscor makes 1911's under many different names, just wondering if this is one of them.
 
Back from the range.

First report
Trigger is around 6lbs, gunsmith will tune that down just a bit
Sights are shooting about 2" right at 10-15yds, gunsmith will tune that too.
Gun shot perfectly, ate cheap Monarch hardball
Grip swap will help a little, but nothing critical.
Best gun for the money I've ever bought.

First eight rounds out of the gun, standing, 30 feet, about 2" right

Nope. The Firestorm and American Classic pistols are made by Metro Arms which is a Philippine company. Look at the picture posted by the OP, the warranty card shown reads Metro Arms Corporation, not Armscor.
 
My bad, I thought Armscor made Mepro and everything else coming out of there or one factory was producing the parts for both.

And I am a fine print reader.;)
 
nice looking 1911. i've never heard of this brand before.

doesn't look like you only paid $450 for it. doesn't jam either? well you can't beat that for the money ;)
 
there is one sitting at my LGS and its been there for about a month.

I cant believe no one has snagged it. For the 439 they are asking it would almost be worth it even if it didnt work. I also fondled it and was surprised at the feel. It didnt feel cheap at all and was quite smooth.
 
Seems like a nice 1911. My first was a pre out of business Springfield Armory(then), from back in the early 1980's. A friend traded it to me for a S&W 469 and $50. I have $240 in it, still sits in the safe.
 
Welcome to the world of 1911s Doc. Nice gun.

Remember what I told you when you got your first Colt revolver? How one wouldn't be enough. The 1911 world is even bigger. If I was a fortune teller, I would say that I see more 1911s in your future. Have fun :evil:
 
Welcome to the 1911 world, great looking pistol and darned fine shooting doc. $445 on Gunbroker huh? I might have to check that out. Texas Colt is right, one ain't gonna be enough. There's a lot of different gun designs out there, but you were right in your original post too; there's just something about a 1911 that tells you, you've got a REAL firearm in your hand.
 
Thanks for sharing. I've gone a different direction than the 1911, but there's no arguing that it's a real handgun.
 
who is the seller, i searched for metro arms on GB and got a blank. is the hammer on the gun in the pictures the one that comes from the factory? thanks much.--robby

Looks like a nice gun. I like the wood grips. Dont care much for the bicycle tire spoked hammer though. LOL.

Id say with the groups its putting out and the reliability, thats a good deal.
 
I am pleased to see that it is reliable from round one. I paid over twice as much for a different 1911 that wasn't.

I would like to offer a constructive criticism on that hammer: :barf:
