For the first time in 35 years of owning S&W's I called customer service last monday. I recently aquired a model 60 3" target, early 90's vintage. The first thing I did when I got it home was to remove the front sideplate screw. It was very slightly buggered and I wanted a perfect one in there. To my surprise it was different than any I've seen. It had a spring loaded plunger on the end for the yoke retainage. I searched all over with no luck. So I called and explained. The man took my address and said he'll get one in the mail. 3 days later it arrived with no note or invoice. Not that big a deal I guess, but I thought it was great.

S&W has always had good CS. I've never had a warranty/defect issue with any of my 13 S&W firearms, but whenever I've called with questions or to order accessories, they've been great.

Agree 100%, in my experience their CS is among the best in the business. Recently I needed to return a pistol to S&W for installation of a new extractor. They mailed me a pre-paid shipping label, I gave the gun to UPS on Monday, on Friday that same week UPS delivered the repaired gun to my door. Included in the box was the target they used to test fire the pistol to make sure everything worked. They didn't charge me a cent.

A few years ago I picked up a minty M66-2 made around 1972. It consistently shot seriously left (which I do not do with any other DAs). I finally sent it in to S&W in July asking them to examine it for any discrepancies. It came back the other day with some cryptic notations claiming it was "repaired". I test fired it and it was indeed on for windage with the rear sight blade centered.

They turned the barrel just slightly and brought it in. No charge for the work or the return shipping.

I've sent other guns in over the years. They're not super quick but they know their guns and do good work.

I recently returned a PPK/s for a recall issue (S&W built) and in the course of email exchanges over the long time involved I expressed some issues I had with the gun, which were the very sharp edges of the machined parts. They had not been broken after the CNC got finished and could result in cuts if handled incorrectly. The gun came back with a full melt job and a polished feed ramp. No complaints except for a long time waiting for the gun to be returned to me. Now I have a S&W custom shop PPK/s. And no charge for the service. You do pay a higher price for S&W quality and you should get it.
