Seems to me like a GI M1 carbine would be a great little home defense weapon. I'd use mine for it if my wife had any sense of humor. So I was wondering if anybody makes/offers a flashlight or laser that attaches to the bayonet lug?

Think I saw some stuff in Cheaper than dirt....what's your wifes sense of humor got to do with it? Maybe I've been single too long??

Come to think of it...maybe not long enoughanyone know if the ones made for the ar-15/m4's would fit the bayonet lug? a quick google search netted many of these mounts but i am not sure of the dimensions. might be worth a shot though. easy to mount a light for HD, but i can still use the bayonet for battlefield charges.
I'd be tempted to buy a beater M1 bayonet, and use that to try and cobble something up. And my wife knows I have guns, just doesn't know how many or how much $$$ is in them, but she just won't stand for any visible ones around the house. I have my Garand on the wall above my gun bench, and it makes her jaws tight everytime she sees it up there. If I kept a cocked and locked M1 carbine by my side of the bed, I might have to use it against her in self-defense!
