First of all Ill give you guys alitle history of my CBOB. I've shot around 300-350 rounds through it. About 60 rounds or so ago I sent it to Dan Wesson to have some problems fixed. What was happening was the hammer was dropping but the round wasn't firing. So Dan Wesson fixed it by, Throating the barrel, re-polishing the fed ramp, and doing a trigger job. So all is good, until I took it to the range today. Now what is happening is, the round isn't feeding all the way into the barrel. Its going far enough into the barrel where I can barley see the rim of the shell. This is fixed by re racking the slide. This happened 2-3 times while shooting 60-70 rounds. Also the slide didn't lock to the rear 2 times. What is going on? I love this gun, but its really starting to worry me. Thanks for your time and please help me out.

i consulted my bench manual from Ed Brown and Mr. Brown says you have a weak recoil spring. if your gun is a 5" gun go to a 17# spring according to Bill Wilson. if it's a 4 1/4" gun, go to a 18.5# spring or if that doesn't cure it try a 20# unit. let us know with a range report.

Yep, spring and lube. Be careful with the DW's when breaking them in. If not properly lubed these Stainless steel guns can develop galling issues. FP-10 lube works real well to prevent this. Lube the snot outa the rails.

Modern stainless steel has very little chance of galling.

Stop using the grease (Just guessing that you are using grease) you are currently using and get some FP-10. DW recommends it for a reason.

What caliber CBOB do you own? 10mm or .45? For a .45 generally an 18# will get the job done nicely, for a 10mm a 20# is stock but I prefer a 24# spring myself.

DW's are built very tight and until well broken in they need to be very clean and well lubed. I had a PM-7 and it took 600 or so rounds to get it broken in. I also used a tad heavier recoil spring to help it along...
