TAC and the Lyman 55 Measure

Is anyone here having sauces running TAC through their Lyman 55 powder measure. I've run at least a dozen pounds of IMR 4320 and H 4985 through this measure without a hitch and with +/- 0.1gr accuracy. It meters the TAC okay, but binds up pretty bad on this small grained powder. I'm going to guess it takes 5 times the effort to pull the handle for each charge.

Is there a cure for this? I adjust to get as close as I can with the large charge bar and open the smaller bar just enough for the fine adjustment (no more than 1/8".

My Lee Perfect Powder measure works better, but tends to leak some from around the drum. Any suggestions for a better way to use the Lyman or an alternative measure that handles TAC well are appreciated.

Use the steel drum to get close, then use the middle slider to fine tune.

That's what I'm doing. I loosen both thumb screws and get as close as I can by adjusting the large bar (drum). I'll lock that in place with its thumb screw. Then I make the fine adjustment with the larger of the two crews on the end. The small one isn't used at all. For 23gr of TAC the large bar isn't opened much, maybe a quarter inch.

I tried it again last night and TAC binds my measure even when the adjustment bars are completely closed. I guess the tolerances are loose enough that some of the granules are getting between the frame and the rotating drum. When I try the same thing with 4320 the drum rotates freely and only shows resistance when it cuts the occasional kernel of powder while measuring.

This is too bad, because the 55 does a great job of dispensing uniform amounts of TAC. What experience do you guys have with TAC in a Uniflow or L-n-L measures? I've seen them around here. I will look for the Forster measure that lgsracer mentioned as well.

Wish me luck. I've been watching eBay and this Redding Powder Measure I bought looks like it works on the same principle as the RCBS Uniflow. Once I get it in and set up I'll report how it works with TAC.
