The USCCA. The website looks inviting and informative about choice ofr holsters, gun training, legal aspects on shooting, use of deadly force, etc. How many of you are members here? Is the $47 of membership worth it?

JMHO, but I don't really want my name on a "list" like that. Yeah, I'm already on one, but only in my state AFAIK.

A couple of teaser articles of unknown vintage and a blurred representation of forum subjects, and traffic volumes on the forum is not really enough to get me interested in paying them $47 to see more.

Looks interesting but too obscure to tell and I don't have $47 to gamble with right now.

I agree with both Rondog and kda.

I've received emails and have called them but I don't like my name in anyone else's computer identifying me as a carrying person. The $47 is way too steep for me to take the chance on "is it worth it?" If they gave and introductory price of $5 - $10 for 6 months, I would probably be more interested. At that point I'd use a fake name and have it sent to a P.O. box.

I reveiwed a book they were going to have published recently. The information was ~okay~. Nothing that Massad Ayoob hasn't covered. Their book; had lots and lots of type-os and improper words, words that spell checker probably fixed and became the wrong words. I had a two page document of corrections for it, and I finally gave up on it. I'm by no means a word smith, but come on, I can tell when it should read '38 special revolver' and instead reads '38 special rover'.

There was a lot of spam in my inbox, most of their 'articles' were things I had already found on sites like this one. There might be the occasional nugget of information like anyplace. I'll stick with the sites that support the cause without making a profit.

Thanks for you comments. You guys are right, we shouldn't be advertising, online at least, that we're carrying.

The $47 is way too much. I was a member for a year. They do allow you to download all past issues in .pdf format which I thought was worth the price of it. It then became too expensive. Their magazines don't cover anything you can't get with a much cheaper magazine or on the internet. It is WAYYYY overpriced.

Plus you constantly get hounded for other offers to buy more and more crap if you become a member. It SUUUUCKS.

Couldn't have put this post up about a month ago to save me from the $47 and special offers could ya! :D

Yep I fell for it, but I certainly won't renew!

dont feel bad...I did it a year ago and it just lapsed...wasn't enough on there to keep me...great concept, just thought it lacked enough content

Threads like this, that from the start, start out bashing another (fill in the blank) are self-serving drivel.

I've been a USCCA member for two years. I let Tim Schmidt send me several join-up offers until I got one with a significant discount/prize. I did the same with the renewal. Then I put him on my spam list and havn't heard another word.

The magazine is small, to the point, mostly on target and carries with it far less annoying advertisement. It has evolved into something mildly entertaining and enjoyable.

The forum is typical gun faire: lot's of people (most new), few with any real knowledge, everyone with a strong opinion (on everything), short on common sense or actual experience.

Here's a fact: it cost a great deal to pay for the space and the bandwidth to support a forum and there are two sources to get that money: your own pocket or advertisers and subscribers---$47 is cheap when one considers the magazine.

Its amazing how many mistake the works price and prize.

I have been getting USCC's weekly newsletter for probably 8 months now and still haven't found a reason to spend the $47. I do think he is doing a good thing by offering it up and I am sure there is a lot of great information he provides but it seems most of it is common sense or something I have already learned over the years. Sorry but I don't plan on joining. I seem to find better information on this site.

Thanks High Road!

Been there done that!

Didn't find anything WORTH $47! Requested my 100% Guarenteed Refund!
