I want to. But what on earth do you name a Saiga?

EDIT:

The Real Mags said:
No they are tools, do you have a nick name for your cordless drill?

Yes actually. "Sir Edmund Hillary", for the fact that after I fell off it was, drill bit and all, still in the roof.

Only my 11-87 turkey gun, "The Fat Lady," 'cause when she sings it's all over!

How does one determine the sex of a firearm?
You look under the trigger housing.

I'm not going to worry about it unless the guns start talking back. Then I'm in big trouble.

Great thread OP, lots of chuckles reading the various posts. My three favorites above.
My father named his '55 Renault 4CV "Little Bit" cause it was little! I don't know why he bought a car that got 50mpg when gas was 25 cents a gallon. But then again he also had an old Studebaker that would only start if we pushed it backwards.
He had a .22 Winchester rifle that he used when he took us kids to kill rabbits at night. He never missed! I think he learned to be a good shot when he fought from Normandy to Berlin back in '44/45. My mom still has that gun.

We all named our rifles in basic training, but since then I haven't named a single gun.

Ironically one of my buddies then named his M16 "Gun."

My lever action 30-30 is named Annie.
My Kimber pro carry (black) is named Charlotte like the black widow in Charlotte's Web.
I haven't thought of a good name for my Ar-10 yet though...

BWAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Of COURSE! I was a USAF pilot in Vietnam and we gave the planes nicknames. I remember "The Hemorrhoid," "The Pig," "Satchemo," "Leaker," "Bad News," "Orr," "Santa" and many others.

Today I fly B-17s with names like "Sentimental Journey," "Texas Raiders," "Aluminum Overcast," "Fuddy Duddy," and "Liberty Bell."

I named two of my guns. One was "Fluffy" because anything with that much attention to it had to be a pet, and "Spot" because it always barked when I petted it.

Yes. The names are used as "code names" between my wife and I when around our kids and others if need be.

Name for Sigma

When they first came out a friend of mine referred to his as "Smegma." Not sure if that was a name or an epithet.

We've got two with names. A Walther P22 that we named "Grits" in honor of Grits Gresham when we found out we bought it the day Grits passed away. The other is my Bushmaster BAR-10 that the wife calls "Vera" after the "Firefly" series character Jane Cobb's weapon he named "Vera".

No, I actually don't waste any effort trying to think up names for my guns... But some of them have told me what they want to be called after they've seen action.

My kids give them names (I am a big kid so I think of some of them too)

My matching revolvers are Pete and Repete

My egyptian fn49 is ahmed. My boy nicked that after ahmed the dead terrorist ventriloquist.

My S12 is weldon because all the work I have done on it is well done and with the welding and j.b. weld it is weld on. cute huh?

My Walther P1 is kissy after a german girl i knew by that name.

My double barrel coach gun is Bob. I have no idea why and the boy couldn't come up with a reason why either. Just that is Bob.
