Does anyone have names, links, descriptions, anything of break down rifles ?

Specifically I am looking for a gun with a center chassis/body and removable rear stock.

Folding is really common, but for what I want it has to remove. Anyone seen such a thing ?

Thanks.

Not sure what you want, exactly.

Marlin makes a .22 semiauto. Browning makes a centerfire lever action.

Most takedowns have removable barrels, with the receiver staying with the buttstock. Barrels tend to be long, so having a removable buttstock would leave you with a long part and a short part.

Marlin's 39 .22 lever gun has a receiver that splits in half with a thumbscrew, a slightly different approach.

I should say, I have no interest in the actual rifles, just the mechanism used to lock the pieces in.

That said, I've spent hours googling different guns. But a lot of the bolt guns I'm seeing as break down also break at the barrel. Since I'll have a 10" barrel, I'm not really interested in that.

I should probably be looking at fastening systems and not guns :\

Yes, SBR with removable stock. Bolt action, although I had considered semi based on an AKM.

For what I'm doing bolt will be fine. If I could afford to shoot heavy hand loads in semi I would just pay someone to make what I want :)

I've considered just making a dovetail in the stock and chassis with a positive stop but I don't really know the best way to lock that in.

You might try to google Ben Pearson Take-down Bow. They used to make a take-down recurve that had a dovetail aluminum block in the riser that was secured by a tapered screw pin. A good machinist should be able to duplicate it for use on a rifle stock.

That looks great! I just need to better understand how that pin works.

You say tapered screw pin... can you explain that a little more? I'm looking at the picture that looks like a button (ideal). Tapered and Pin I can see going together and tapered screw, but not all three words. Confusing me :)

Ideally I had something in mind that was very fast, like a quarter turn fastener or a lever. Big thumb screw may be a little harder for me make look right. Button would be awesome, but reluctant to get into captive pins and springs. KISS.

Dr. Tad Hussein Winslow: That's my backup. I have some particular self imposed requirements and the removable stock would help.
