Just curious if anyone attended the gun show in Waterloo, Iowa. I wasn't able to attend this year and with all the other reports of disappointing gun shows, I'd like to hear how it was.

I did. It was pretty much how it was last time, I guess.

Saw what I thought were some good deals, like a bit more than $200 for Sig Mosquitos, and some Enfields between $2 - 350.

Saw some bad deals too, like incorrect Garands that had lots of wear for $1200.

Only saw one beef (and buffalo!) jerky guy.

AR's seemed to be fair prices.

A decent amount of ammo being sold - didn't look at prices.

Primers were available for the low price of $60/1000.

I got a soft case for my AR for $25, and 2 Pmags for 14 each, which I was satisfied with.

Thanks for the info. I'm usually not able to buy a gun(s) when I go due to budgetary reasons so I usually only get mags and accessories as well. Are the price of Mosquitos going down then. Seems like at the last show they were going from $250-$300. Thanks for the update on the Enfields as well, eventually I'd like to get a No4 Mk1 and gunbroker's prices seemed to be all over the place.

WOW! There are people from Waterloo on here! Me too! I missed the show this weekend. There is another on in December.

The show was OK. Some decent prices, some were outrageous
The last time i checked Scheels had primers around 30k range.

The AR prices appear to be coming back down

I hadn't been up to the Cedar falls range for awhile so I hit the show and the range in one trip.

Sounds like I'll have to try for the one in December. Thanks for the reports guys.

Check out the Cedar Rapids shows and the one at the State Fairgrounds in Des Moines - those are bigger shows :) I went the the one in Waterloo back in feb and it was the biggest one I have seen in waterloo - not like the normal lame ones in waterloo. :)

I haven't gone to the show in CR for maybe 10 years, but I remember it not being so great - lots of politicial stuff, beef jerky, flags etc etc, and not too many guns.

My BIL has gone within the last few years, and told me it was about the same. Do you think it is better now than the last one (in Feb) in Waterloo?

I think the show in cedar rapids is bigger. The shows in waterloo havent been the same since they left the sullivan brothers building.

I would rate the C.R. show as good as the thanksgiving show in DesMoines at the fair grounds.

However sometimes its the little show where you really find the gem.

One of the problems was the fact there was also a show in Adel the same weekend. Seems to me the two promoters screwed up by scheduling two different shows on the same weekend. There's a limited number of vendors and customers and they obviously can't be in two places at once.

Didn't the also have a Des Moines show that weekend?

I went to the show. The prices on black rifles were just plain stupid, but hnadguns were "normal". They haven't yet surrendered to the idea that the rush is over. I nearly picked up an M1A from Gabes, but passed.

(The buffalo jerky guy was pretty decent. I had a nice conversation with him!)
