I was just curious as to what the various members here carried, mainly in terms of barrel length. Also, how do you prefer to carry?

Personally, I am currently using the "SmartCarry" holster for my 4" and 5" weapons. Both fit well but, given my relatively small stature, Im thinking I may need to acquire a weapon within the sub-3" category. Still, the 4"+ weapons are manageable for now...particularly when wearing untucked shirts and/or coats.

Anyway, let me know how you go....

A weapon that may meet your size criteria is the Springfield Armory XDSC9 which has a 3" barrel. Incidentally, it carries well in my SmartCarry with the larger 16 round XD mag.

Once again considering the SmartCarry the Ruger SP-101 is an excellent choice for the SmartCarry

In general, I prefer a concealed carry weapon with a beginning weight of around 25 to 30 ounces empty with an IWB holster and, of course, a dedicated holster belt which will make all the carry difference, and then add on what is needed from there.

Everything in a Crossbreed IWB holster. Mainly, G30, 36, 19, M&P45c, 1911 commander or micro 3". Carried at between 3-4 o'clock on my hip.

I couldn't guess the average size.
My plan and goal is a 5 gun ccw collection,a gun for every occasion.
Im picking up gun #4 in 2 days and number 3 wont be far behind once i figure out what it will be.

Largest too smallest:
1. 5" PT1911 IWB and also OWB pancake both @3:30
2. Taurus PT745 sub compact .45 IWB @10 oclock
3.??????????
4. Walther PPS 9mm not worn it since i have 2 days until its arrival
5. Sig p238 Desantis Nemisis in left rear pocket

4+5 are back ups that will be worn with a 1,2 or 3 main gun 98% of the time.
Backups can be a main if clothing or time doesn't allow me to carry a main.
And yeh i put alot of thought into even the little details, but i look at this as a 50/50 mix of hobby and necessity.

Number 3 is looking like it may be a mid sized .40,but thats not set in stone.

I have a gun for most ocassions. My primary CCW is a XD40 sub compact with a LCP or a NAA380 as backup. My #2 CCW is a S&W M&P 9MM compact. #3 is a S&W M&P 40 with a 12 ga. backup to ward off pirates at sea. Just had a new Ruger LCR-LG .38 passed down from my wife to me who hates it after putting only 10 rounds thru it. I'll use it as a primary when wearing a suit or a blazer......

I carried a Kahr CW9 for a long time but became uncomfortable with the idea of relying on a small 9mm. I now carry either a 9mm or a 40 caliber full size gun with double stack mag. On rare occasions I carry the Kahr as a BUG. IMO bigger guns are better for SD and round count matters. Everything is IWB.

I've tried lots of different revolvers and autos attempting to find the "best" for concealment. That includes everything from full-size steel-frame autos and K- and L-frame revolvers, right down to airweight snubbies and mousegun autos. I've learned that, at least for me, the best choices are guns that weigh about a pound and a half, and two pounds is the outer limit. For autos, I like 3.5-inch barrels; for revolvers, make it a 2.5- to 3-inch barrel. Slimmer is better, too. My favorite so far is the Kahr K9, and the S&W 3913/908 has been the next best. I guess that means the 9mm single-stack is my CCW nirvana. :) For either of these, I like a simple Don Hume IWB leather clip-on holster, preferably with a thumb-snap.

I have found that a Glock 26 is ideal in most situations. I carry in a smart carry as well and if Im not at work or in a situation where my shirt is tucked I carry in a high noon iwb appendix as well. I also carry a NAA 22 mag in my right front pocket regardless of what else I may be carrying at the time.

1911 in a Milt Sparks SSII or a Galco Jak Slide, or a Yaqui slide.

Was using a S&W 642 in a pocket holster, but thinking about moving to something with more power.

Walther PPS 9mm (main carry)
Bersa Thunder Ultracompact 9mm (occasional carry)
S&W 1911Sc Commander (carried when I get a whim)
Walther P99 (my original CCW, carried very rarely now)
All are carried in an IWB holster at 3:30.

I carry my PF9 in a $18 minimalist IWB holster made locally. A 1911 in the same just a size larger. I have carried a lot of different rigs from lightweight snubies to full size double stack .45's and the PF9 is by far the most comfortable. I think it is the weight and width of the gun more than anything. It doesn't work well with a tucked in shirt but I have other rigs for that.

My main carry guns at the moment are my Glock 26 in a Bianchi Professional 100 iwb holster and my Ruger LCR carried either iwb in a Bianchi Professional or in my pocket in a Uncle Mike's pocket holster.

The 3rd runner up is my S&W 642 Power Port. I use it strictly a pocket gun though.

Sig 232 in a High Noon Tuckable. And no, I don't feel under-gunned. I've had it for awhile and I'm pretty good with it. As soon as a few locker-queens disappear on consignment, it will be joined by a Ruger SP101.
