My Commander is back from the Smith

When I cam home for leave from Germany in July 08 I sent my 1991 Commander off for some work and received it last week. Eric Zinn did a super job making my vision into a pistol.

I wanted a carry gun that had the upgrades I wanted but kept the lines of the original Colt as closely as possible.

Now if I can find some ammo I will get out a range report.

It is a steel framed 1991 Series 80. I chose the the beavertail for exactly that reason, after looking at just about everyone out there I settled on the Smith and Alexander grip safety and Eric blended it perfectly.

Here's the list.

- Cut slide (Novak cut) and install Hienie Str 8 Tritium front and rear sights
- Reliability and action job (3.5-4.0 lbs trigger)
- Fit and install EGW Commander Hammer
- Fit and install Kings trigger (the only solid non polymer black trigger I could find)
- Cut frame .250 radius and install and blend S&A Grip Safety
- Fit and install Nighthawk Thumb Safety
- Install and blend brown MSH (25 LPI)
- High cut frame.
- Mild dehorn
- Tighten slide to frame fit
- Fit and install Baer oversized match grade barrel and brown bushing
- Serate back of slide to match Hienie sights (serate spare extractor)
- 25 LPI front strap checkering
- Lower and flare ejection port
- Finish in Ion Bond with flats polished (400 grit)
