High Quality High Dollar Pocket Pistols

Millet, you are correct about the OP making his intent clear with the details in his post. My main point was that some folks and some organizations (and some dictionaries) use the term pistol to refer to both types of handguns. The number one definition of pistol in my Webster dictionary says "a short firearm intended to be aimed and fired with one hand." The NRA and many folks often use this definition. The number two definition in my Webster says "a handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel." This is the definition you are using, but it is number two in Webster's (but most common with knowledge gun folks).

Me? I usually say 'auto's' and revolvers. I also know that most folks use the term pistol to refer to an auto. I am not trying to be argumentative, but just trying to explain that the definition/meaning of 'pistol' may mean different things to different folks. Cheers.

Anyone have other suggestions??
How about a S&W Model 60 Pro Series It's nice and small, very reliable, and in 357mag. Lots of ammo choices

If your goal is to have the most expensive pocket gun, get the Seecamp .380 or Rohrbach P-9. They will be no fun to shoot ever, but are fine machines.
If you want protection, consider the Ruger LCP for 1/4 the money. Also no fun to shoot.

If you get the Sig P-238, slightly larger, it is fun to shoot, and reliable.

I would jump on a Rohrbaugh if I could simply walk into a gun store and buy one.

I don't like the Sig very much because its SAO and needs an external safety. :uhoh:

I dont really even like 380 to be honest. Its too hard to find, but i can deal with that for the right pocket gun.

For anyone lucky enough to own one, the best of the best is an original L. Seecamp converted Colt Commander .45.

I know the gun of which you speak, but sorry... Anything Commander sized is NOT a pocket gun.

Miket, thanks for your input and glad you know something about the Seecamp converted Commanders. Would like to learn more as I understand they are quite rare, and hard to get information about them. If Seecamp made the Commander a pocket gun by reducing the size of the frame how did he do it?
thanks

Do you want high quality or high price?

You can pay $1500 for a Seecamp .380 and it stovepipes on the last round. Always.
Is that high quality?

You can buy a Rohrbach R-9 and you'll be replacing the recoil spring
every 200 rounds.
Is that high quality?

For me, the Sig P-238 has been high quality. (sorry, it's less expensive.)

Sorry, I don't know anything about that Seecamp conversion other than knowing a Commander sized 1911 is way too big for a pocket.

I thought that was a slide hold open "feature" with the last case stovepiping. That's how I've heard it described before.

Miket, sorry for misunderstanding your earlier post about the Seecamp conversion which I thought indicated you were familiar with them. Perhaps someone knowledgable about them can contribute information about how, if indeed he did, reduce the size of the commander frame. I'd certainly like to know and I think others would too.
thanks again

Sorry, the PF-9, while it may "work", is neither high quality nor is it high dollar; both characteristics as listed by the original poster. Reading is fundamental...
PF-9 NOT HIGH QUALITY?
I disagree!! You have your opinion I have mine! Your full of bologna when you make the comment the PF-9 is not high quality! That's my opinion!

Ok there, um "dogspit". Anybody else think Kel-Tec produces HIGH QUALITY firearms? Fit, finish, materials? Anybody? Because I'm looking at the ones I own and not seeing it.

They may work and can be decent firearms, but they are NOT high quality...

That's my opinion!

Wow, you have one of those? Don't we all? I have an orifice where feces comes out, too. Cool!

Guns and more:

Respectfully, where are you buying your LWS380's?

I bought mine a year ago directly from Seecamp in Milford Ct., and the price was $795.00 + $35.00 for a custom serial number, and $35.00 for an extra magazine. (It comes with two.).

I also paid my local FFL transfer dealer $25.00 and I'm sure there was a shipping fee, but adding all of that up doesn't come to anywhere near $1500.00.

Want MINE for $1500.00?

Additionally, that "last round always stovepipes" business is nonsense. I have one LWS380 and two LWS32's and none of them have EVER stovepiped on any round.

Glad your Sig P238 is satisfactory to you, was yours one of those affected by the recall?

I love Sigs.. Had a P220 and a P239.. wonderful pistols. In fact if I didn't think a single action pistol was a poor choice for cc I'd probably buy one of the P238's myself..

But I do, so I won't..

I guess "Quot capita tot sensus" applies here, as mine is only valid to me, and I'm thinking that yours is gonna apply to only you too, at least until you get your facts straight..

Is the Seecamp a high quality pistol?

Apparently, because if you care to use the search function on any firearm forum and pose the question I'm willing to bet the vast majority of posts will say a definite yes....

Just personal opinion, could be wrong about a lot of things, but I'm NOT wrong about the prices or the reliability of the Seecamp pistol because I DO have personal experience with those little jewels..

Anyone who cares can monitor the www.seecamp.com forum and see for themselves that "stovepiping" in the Seecamp pistol is not a problem, and nobody in their right mind is paying $1500.00 for a new LWS380 either..;)

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Yes it is. A fine gun built to meet a specific need. And a new spring is $4.95. It's not a good gun for an afternoon at the range shooting up box after box of ammo, but it's a great small gun.

The first time I shot mine, I shot 101 rounds before deciding that the second fifty had really been beating me up. Lively little 12.8-ounce gun. :)

"Um, a revolver is NOT a pistol..."

Sure it is.

As for high dollar and/or quality semi-automatic pocket pistols, I decided on the Seecamp LWS32. One of these days I'll have to have it tastefully engraved.

For the money, I'd recommend buying two Airweight S&W .38 Special revolvers. They are the ultimate pocket carry option, IMHO . . . and two J-frames is the ultimate "New York Reload!"

They always go bang, pack a better punch than any .380, and can be amazingly accurate! Here's all five rounds, shot standing and UNSUPPORTED . . . at ten yards at a ONE INCH black square. My Kel-Tec can't match that accuracy at FOUR yards:

TWENTY-FIVE YARDS OUT?

Same gun, same manner, at 25 yards into a 2 1/2" square!

Different rounds shoot at a different POA, of course. Here's the same day, same gun, with a different round:

Please consider these fine revolvers. More people who are experienced, seasoned handgunners carry 'em than anything else for their "always" gun(s) . . . and for all the right reasons!

Hope this helps . . .

Crap I've got 5 snubby revolvers, and at ten yards I can't hit crap with any of them... :barf:

Of course old age, declining vision, and shaky hands don't help.. :(

Good Shooting..

Best Wishes,

Jesse

P.S. On the other hand, I have a couple of HK P7's and a P2000sk (V3) that I actually CAN hit the target with from that distance.. But even then not nearly so well as your target indicates you can with your snubby..

Thank goodness! We finally have another internet wise guy. I wasn't sure what we were going to do after the last one left.

Please, please, please continue espousing you opinions which are so much more valuable than those of anyone else.
And pleeeease continue with the not so thinly veiled insults which so eloquently display your charm and grace.
And please continue with the formal pedagogical treatise on firearms vocabulary. While your at it, how about quoting Eats, Shoots and Leaves, as well. I'm always trying to improve my grammar, especially while perusing the gun boards.

Thanks in advance.

PX15,
That's a nice little collection you got there. If you ever want to part with one of those make sure to let me know.:D
