Dual-citizens and concealed carry?

I can't help authoritatively on the dual citizenship issue, so I will avoid speculation.

Would you be under a Canadian law, what I mean is there some law that prevents expat from owning a firearm?

Once you become a citizen you enjoy all the rights.

You do not have to be native born.

If you intend to also remain a Canadian citizen, make sure you don't lose any rights there, i.e., national health care, etc. Make sure Canada allows dual nationalists.

depends on the state. in Texas you can be a foreign citizen with a Resident Alien Card as a Legal Permanent Resident and get a Texas carry permit.

you may also check into reciprocity issues for the state you're looking at....if a state like Texas has reciprocity in the state you're moving to then get a carry permit from that other state.

I have heard that WA has restrictions on CCW for legal residents.

Luckily I live in the Gunshine State and I have my CWL.
Only additional limitation I face as a non-citizen, is that I have to prove that I have been a resident for a continuous 90 days - ie. CC, utility, bank statements, with every firearm purchase I make.

Just for some additional information, the US does not regonize dual citizenship. The country you are immigrating from may recognize you as a duel citizen. But, the US will simply recognize you as a non-natural born citizen. This is a subject I have a little experience with.

Once you become a Permanent Resident of the US and a Citizen of Washington (3 months) you can apply for a CPL. They removed the Alien Firearm Permit for Permanent Residents (aka Green Card Holders) this year. I had an Alien Firearm Permit and a CPL years ago when I only had an H1-B work visa. I figured I should make sure I had every possible license just to cover all the bases. Of course, I live in a "gun friendly" area. Might be harder somewhere like Seattle.

If you are truly a citizen of the USA then it is probably a no brainer.
