I am interested in one or the other. Not sure which one, leaning towards the PCR right now. Does one fit, feel or carry better than the other? Don't need a light rail, but if it was on the gun, it would probably be ok. Both seem to be right at the same size and weight.

Give me some first hand experience with those that have either or both.....

Already got one comment from a CZ expert here. Need some more to sway me one way or the other.

Personally I like the PCR more, it's the one I picked, it is pretty subjective since they are both just about flawless pistols except for the unavoidable CZ trigger, which isn't a showstopper and can be worked on, and it also gets better as the pistols are shot more, and more, and more.

I think the PCR looks an awful lot like a scaled-down 75B, which is a pull for me. Lack of the light rail makes it a hair lighter and a touch less bulky at the muzzle end than the P01. The P01 does have a forged frame, where I believe the PCR frame is cast, but I couldn't tell you how much of a difference that makes if any at all. I don't think it matters much personally, never heard of a PCR frame (or any other part of it) giving up the ghost before.

PS- with the Kadet Kit and CZ Coco Bolo grips on it the PCR looks a lot like a Hi-Power to me. It's a great pistol all around.

I have a P01
I love it and it's one of my favorites to shoot and /or carry.
I've never had the chance to handle a PCR so I can't speak about that.
My opinion though is that you can't go wrong with either

The PCR looks better but really most guns do without the accessory rail. The P01 accessory rail gives it a blocky, squared chin and IMO spoils the looks and fine lines of the gun which the PCR has.

If you need an accessory rail then there is but one choice. As far as function the PCR and The P01 are basically the same gun

I have a P-01, which I bought simply because I wanted a CZ 9mm, and my dealer gave me a good deal on the P-01 he had had in stock for about a year. Haven't used the rail yet, but I do intend to when I can afford a quality light

My only complaint is that holsters (at least ones in my price range) are hard to find for it.

I have a PCR. I chose it over the P-01 because I have no need for a light rail, it looks better, the more streamlined shape should aid in reholstering, and it didn't hurt that it was $30 less, either.

Between a P01 and PCR, go with the PCR if you don't want the rail. I have one, and it's top notch in every regard.

How about a P-07? I picked one up for under $400 at the gun show this past weekend and love it. The newer ones have a much less abrasive grip. CZ-USA must have heard enough complaints and corrected the problem.

Ditto; NG VI, my CZ 75D PCR goes everywhere I go, even use it in IDPA matches. Either are fine pistols I prefer pistols without the rails so I have a PCR not the P01. This pistol deserves it's "cult" status, it has replaced my SIG P229 and P232 as my only carry weapon. One more thing I much prefer the sights on the PCR to those on the P01, although the "glow inthe dark" sights need to be either white or tritium.

I've had a bunch of P01s and a bunch of PCRs. I have no P01s left. I still have two PCRs. I just can't see the need for a rail on a carry pistol.

Here's a picture of one of my PCRs.

Best regards.

I own a P-01 and a friend of mine owns a PCR. They are both great. The biggest difference I can tell other than the light rail is that my P-01 came with a small rubber piece on the front of the magazine where your pinkie will rest. My friend's PCR does not have this. This seems insignificant, but if your pinkie rests on this, you WILL notice the difference when you shoot it as the one without is much less comfortable and almost jabs your pinkie upon recoil. It appears that the magazines might be interchangable. (Notice the picture of the PCR in the post above does not have this.)

Also, my P-01 is one of the most accurate pistols I own. I have no problems putting rounds in a silver dollar sized circle at 15 yards. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Any 9mm CZ Compact mag will fit either gun, same for full sized 75B, and even 25 round mags.

I find the PCR to be lighter and point slightly better than my P-01.

The trigger is also much better, but I know that PCR triggers are usually superior.

Other have found this to be true.

You guys better buy your CZs on the wish list before the price increase in Jan.

Call me goofy, I like 'em both. Wife has both, too.

I actually carry both, too.

I got the P01 first, then the PCR. I like the both, they feel the same to me, really.

Jed, those low mount Novak style sights are nice, aren't they. :)
Geneseo1911, the Bianchi M-100 IWB rig will fit the PCR and PO1, use one myself. Or go look at Hazel leather one CZ forum, he can probably hook you up.
BTW, a PCR Pro Tek 1 is Angus Hobdells' daily carry sidearm, CZ-USA's top competetive shooter, that should say something. In my humble opinion is if you need an accessory rail, go P01, if you don't, PCR. Crimson Trace Lasergrips fit both easily, and any magazine marked CZ Compact will fit both. Have fun!

Just an update.....Got a PCR in the mail. Cann't wait. Christmas coming a week early.......:D

I vote PCR and carry mine daily. Nothing wrong with the P-01, but I too don't see the need for a rail on a gun.
