eagle45 The picture of my SP101 in the 2nd post of this thread was done by Gemini. I didn't go with the Gold bead sight, but wish I had. I think I'll be ordering one.

Yes Cougfan2 I thought your pic resembled their work. I went with the red fiber optic.

I had wanted the red fiber optic, but it was explained that because I had the Hybra Porting done, it would melt it. I hadn't even thought of that. I like it OK with the factory front sight, but I would like something that helps me pick up the front sight a little better so I think I'll order the gold bead although it is bloody expensive!

Ha - I would never have thought about the sight melting, but that makes sense. I carry my SP 101 regularly, and with my bi focal glasses, plus my eyesight getting a little worse it really helps a lot.

Little range report..

I was able to try it again and just kinda trying to get use to the sight picture and i found out that this particular pistol pretty much hits where you aim or POA = POI, i tried the six'oclock and i was hitting too low so i tried the 12'oclock and boom that's where the hits go, and for those who have one try shooting it with the hornandy leverevolution 140grs and man what a Hoot..I'll post my target later..I shot my taurus 617 too and I was really surprise on the accuracy of the darn thing, its only my 2nd time out with it too..

I had a 3", didn't do anything for me. Probably should have chosen the 2" for CC work. Those Hogue grips work very well but add another 3/4" to the length over stock.

chris in va yah i took it off for now and will try to see the difference in carrying it with the stock grips,I'll probably shoot a lot of 38specials than 357's just becs its a little cheaper.( I don't reload yet i proably need too.)

I have the 2 1/4. I love mine. It is my carry piece I find it much easier to conceal than my 1911 I sold to fund this gun. Got to find good leather for it though.

I am considering the Gemini Customs front sight with the gold insert. My Trijicons, installed in a couple of my SP101 snubbies by Jack Weigand, are going dim, especially in the oldest one, which I bought around 1997. I don't necessarily like glowing tritium, anyway, and have handled some guns locally that had gold blocks or dots in the front sight.

For anyone wondering about Gemini Customs, it is first-rate work. Mr. Morganti is carrying on Jack Weigand's custom work, which includes Hybra-porting, as well as his own ideas. Mr. Weigand is still around, but he stopped doing custom work. Two of my SP101 snbbies were given the "Tame the Beast" package by Jack Weigand, though they are not Hybra-ported. Back in the 1990's Ruger revolvers usually NEEDED custom work. A few years ago, Ruger learned how to really turn out revolvers that are smooth from the factory, though of course, Gemini or another good 'smith can still make them smoother.

Could be, but the primary reason I sought out Gemini, was because the Ruger SP101 I bought less than a year ago had a horrid trigger pull even by Ruger standards. Not sloppy or with a lot of creep, just uber heavy. I started out talking to Mark Morganti/Gemini about just doing an action job (which he will do if that's all you want), but ended up going the full nine yards with the Stainless Hybra Port package. The only thing I didn't have him do is convert mine to DA only. I had him leave it as SA/DA.

I had been carrying a Dan Wesson CBOB as my primary carry gun, but the Gemini upgraded SP101 has taken it's place as my primary carry gun now, particularly since I have found a good carry holster for it.

updated pics again..

I returned the hogue grips and got this instead, the hogue grips works but it just makes it harder to conceal, I also painted the top of the sights so i can see it better..
