I posted it for sale for $400 obo- Sale Post.

I figured that was a fair price given that 1000 of the same ammo is being sold for $675- Click Here.

I thought 700 is 70% of 1000, 70% of $675 is $472.5 so $400 for 700 rounds would be reasonable.

So, rifle guys, help me out. What should I ask for?

I did not get any bites on the ammo since last night. I have been away from gun stuff for about 5 years and while I want to give someone a good deal, I don't want to be taken advantage of either.

Thank you.

go to GB and search for realistic prices. meaning, find out what it's selling for not how much it sitting for.

Thanks for the advice. It's going for a little over $500 + shipping for 1000 rounds - See here

That seems to make $350 + shipping for 700 rounds a more realistic price. I will reduce the price.

Thanks again for the tip.

timbo, I'm not sure if I can sell or ship ammo to LA, CA legally speaking. Will have to check into that.

If anybody here can point me to a resource, please do so.

As I've stated in other threads the cost minus brass to "re-load" Match grade .308 is 34 cents a round, give or take a couple cents for varying component prices. Factor in labor time and 50 cents is reasonable except the quality of the ammo will not be the same. If you are plinking and not seriously target shooting...Who cares. ;)

DonNickmare,

hard to answer, niether your posting or the Midwest Outfitters state year of mfg. on ALL nato spec ammo, there will be stamped a circle with a cross in it, and the last two digits of the year it was made.

even as well as military grade ammo is sealed, i still would be hesitant to trust >30 year old ammo for SHTF. i have recently shot 50+ year old .30 carbine, that worked fine. so it would likely be fine for practice, just older than what i would want to bet my life on.

If it is still sealed in the battlepacks like the link the op posted to there is almost no chance of it being bad. I have shot ammo from ww2 and it worked swell. personally I think the price of .308 is out of control but good luck moving it

Gun-deals has a link to the same ammo for $124.95/200 , or Cost per round: 62.5 cents but is a great site.

600 of it is still in the sealed battle packs and 100 has been in an open battle pack but it's one that I opened about 5 years ago. As far as the year, each brass casing, twenty round box, and battle pack has a stamp with the circle and cross and "BF 79-74".

Five years ago I fired 300 rounds of this ammo through my CETME with no problems. Since then it has been stored in a dry place inside my home.

Sorry Don, that ammo is worth even less to a reloader since the brass can't be reused. Good quality American made Winchester M80 ball can be found for 65 cents a round and remanufactured (by a company not reloader joe) M80 ball in brass cases can be found for 52 cents a round delivered. So in my opinion as a reloader your surplus ain't worth too much, I really think 40 cents a round would be more reasonable.
