DA then.
I don't think you are going to find what you want.

.22/.22 Mag duel cylinder guns are a dime a dozen in Single-Actions like the Ruger Single-Six, Colt New Frontier, Heritage, and others.

Double-action snubbys are another matter, as changing cylinders in one of those involves a spare fitted crane, cylinder, and ejector system.

Just buying an extra crane & cylinder assembly and having it fitted to a DA snubby would cost nearly as much as you want to spend for the whole gun.

S&W has produced a few duel cylinder DA guns in the past, but they are mostly very hard to find and collector expensive now.

Ruger makes a really nice one. It's a little over your price range, but I bet you could find a very nice used one for less than that. It is a single action, and you didn't specify. Do you want single or double action? I know S&W makes a double action, but a used one would probably run you over $500 IF you could find one.
Good luck, and let us know what you find. And don't forget the pictures!
Also, welcome to the forum!

I own a Colt New Frontier .22LR/MAG interchangeble cylinders. Great little gun, barrel is 6'' though. Its a Single-Action also.....don't know about price or how common they are.

I was looking at the Taurus model 941

http://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=370&category=Revolver&breadcrumbseries=&search=941

Only for the reason when Im going shooting I can burn 22LR's
all day and night,..

when Im not shooting at the range I can swap to 22mag which is as power full as a 38special +P.. energy wise... and the speed is really faster on the 22mags.. I been comparing on Midway web site..
I have Seen the S/w model 22a with is a Pistol for around 300 ~~
But Im going away from the semi-autos.. So Taurus.. is kinda my only light in the dark room... =)

edit--Im also looking for some thing small to conceal...

Charter Arms makes........

.........a DA .22LR/.22mag revolver. I don't know if it's a snub though. I believe that it's only available in a four inch target model. And the price might be higher than you would like. I'd search the website for more details for you but I just got back from one heck of a birthday party!:D Learned I'm starting to get WAY too old to dance the way I used too!

I don't think that the Taurus 941 is a .22LR/.22 mag combo. The 940 is a 9 shot .22 LR and the 941 is an 8 shot .22 mag revolver. I might be wrong?

No...you're right. I have a 941. It is an 8 shot .22mag only. I was told that I could get a 22LR cylinder to change it when I wanted to shoot LR. One thing I have to be careful with is the 941 UL heats up rather quickly and ejecting the casings can be a real pain if a high velocity round is used. Do NOT fire CCI 2200 fps mags through the 941. You'll need a punch to remove them. I love shooting this revolver. Getting pretty accurate at short distances after a few hundred rounds of low velocity Winchesters. (and a few other brands). And one other thing.....be sure you have your ears plugged or covered. Very sharp and painful crack otherwise.

Look for an old Charter Arms Pathfinder convertible. They were blued (can't have everything) and had 3" barrels, came with .22lr and .22mag cyls. Solid, accurate little guns.

One other thing, regardless of the numbers, the .22mag is no match for a .38spl as a self defense gun.

Im going SS only... I have a Few 357 mags Blue...
Im going to look into the , NAA Black Widow

Ill keep ya updated..

O wow after looking at the black widow.... that type of revolver, you have to take it apart first to unload it. Ewww..... i would rather just buy the taurus 941 but i got today to keep looking... Monday Im buy something.... or Ordering..

I found this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-P4O1XqMMc

No you are right.

The Tarui 941 is not convertable from an 8-shot 22WRM to a 9-shot .22RF.

It's not physically possible to have two different cylinder capacities (8 and 9 shot) in the same gun due to timing issues with the lock-work.

Haven't read very carefully, I see. The .22 Mag. will hit in the 300's from a rifle, but fired from a 6" revolver will only develop ~ 160 ft/lbs., which is like a target .38 WC load. Shorten that barrel to 2", and you're under 100 ft/lbs. As fired from my 1-5/8" NAA mini, even the CCI Maxi-Mag +V only gets 85 ft/lbs. Standard Federal and WInchester loads are 65-70.

In the NAA mini's, it's the best size-to-power ratio available. In a J-frame sized snub, however, you're much better off with a .38 (or get an extra round with the .327 federal or .32 H&R mag)

from what i was told I have to swap out the cylinder but I dont mind doing the swaping.. Monday when Taurus opens Im calling them to find out what is and what is not.. =)

You need to get either a 22LR or 22WMR DA revolver unless you want a single action revolver. But none of those are snubbies. The old Smith Model 48 was available with both cylinders. They aren't small revolvers however.

Smith makes a nice 22LR or 22 WMR snubbie. But the cylinders are not interchangable.

If you are getting this for self defense, I would stick with 38spl.

In my spam box was a email that was from last week... GRR
from Taurus there is a new modle comming out that can do Both
and is a snub...
*does happy dance* but its almost $700...

So I keep my One 357 mag at home for *mom* with Corbon Pow R balls...
* moms safe * So Im going to just spend a little more on ammo..
and get another 357mag, snub... since Taurus and SW both have the warntees for life.. Im pretty safe...

My home 357 is a EAA and its been a 100% great Gun...

so a EPIC change... at least if im on my Motorcycle and some1 trys to run me off the road and trys to cause death I know the corbon + 357 will do great for DEfence...
=)

I would strongly advise NOT shooting at moving cars just because the tried to run you off the road. There is no telling what you are really going to hit. As a rider, if he is trying to run you off the road to cause death, both hands should be on the handle bars. Chasing him down would not be looked upon as self defense. If you are still living when you come to a stop and he gets out and is unarmed... he is no longer trying to kill you and you might be in a bit of a pinch again if you draw your arm then. Shooting from a moving bike would be just as bad... no idea where you are actually hitting... and you run a serious risk of rear ending a cage while you are attempting to aim. Just you $.02.

I owned a Taurus 94 .22 LR, and mine was an excellent firearm, sorry I sold it. However, some important observations:

1) They are heavy as if made of solid lead. I would get the Ultra Light version if doing it again.

2) The SA trigger pull was great, but the DA trigger pull must have been 20 pounds, ruining any attempt at fast, accurate shooting. This may have just been my gun, but I have read that manufacturers often do this because rimfires require a little heavier strike for reliability. You probably ought to try before you buy.

im only looking at SS models since the loads I load for personal carry have warp'd my ""light versons""

Were I live the local ""shooting Club"" has let me bring my Motorcycle in and of course a few people had to try and shoot target driving it..

I had a person drive me off the road once and stop and look.. It was dark..
I pre-tended to act as I crashed... but I layed my sport bike down in the Grass.. A few thorns but thats it... He left and WOW... I was left.....:what:

Amen for people that carry With the LAW..

+1. On a bike, you're quicker and much more agile than almost any automobile. Evasion is by far the best option for preserving your own life. I carry everywhere, including on the bike, but the only time the gun would come out to be fired at another vehicle is in the unlikely event that 1) the aggressor can actually keep up and 2) that he continues trying to kill me.

My bike is an old Interceptor 750, street fightered out. It ain't that quick and tops out at about 135 without the fairing, but it'll outrun pretty much any car, especially accelerating below 110 MPH. That pretty much leaves high performance sports cars as the only ones that could keep pace, and unless we're all alone on the road, I can get away by jetting between other vehicles.

My bike is slow.. its a 200cc...my top speed is 60mph..
Its a joke with bikers lifes...
and I have not been just ran off the road..

I reported 3 times to the cops, and they say the same BS.....
If the car runs you off the road 3 times, stops to check that your not moving. then leave AND there LOL as there leaving..
.... thats a point made by them... I take that serious.

Im not the aggressor... I get off work at 2am normally, and there is aways punks around the area to my area of home.. and there is a long 2 lane Highway.
I work go home to my disabled mother, and I mind my own business..

normally I see 1 or 2 cars on my way home... but sometimes I see non....

When I fear for my life thats when I get mad. If a car came into my lane once.. by accident I would just slow down and let them go... but when I get run off the road and Im Laughed at .... thats not a joke... its called aggravated assault.
