stoegor condor (very nice wood, i already own) never shot clays with it yet, or a browning bps hunter. i have a chance to trade the stoeger for a win 94 _1976 antiue model in pretty good cond, and i was wondering if i should get rid of the stoeger now and get the bps later or just keep my stoeger.

IIRC, Stoger is made by Beretta in Turkey on Beretta's equipment.

Stoeger: A History of Affordable Quality Firearms

In the 1990s, the Stoeger company was purchased by Finnish rifle manufacturer Sako. In 2000, Sako was acquired by Beretta Holding S.p.A. At that time, Stoeger Industries was placed under the ownership of Benelli USA, where it remains today as a member of the Benelli USA family of companies.

The technology and expertise of Benelli USA are integral to Stoeger’s manufacturing processes. And all Stoeger products enjoy a solid reputation for affordable quality.

I stand corrected:

The Condor is marketed and distributed by Stoeger Industries in Accokeek, Maryland, United States. It is manufactured by E.R. Amantino in Veranópolis, Brazil. The Condor is relatively inexpensive compared to other double barreled shotguns. It is most often used for hunting birds and for clay target games such as trap and skeet.

Will this be a "formal" competition gun? Or is it just for friends and family outings to the clays range?

The pump action would be considered by many to be a handicap in the competition world. If you are fast enough with it; that would be your call.

The double barrels of the Stoeger would be an advantage in either formal of informal SCs. The extra shot(s) of the BPS could only be useful in the informal shooting (if ya'll choose to for go the rules).

If it was me (which it ain't), just on the merits of the guns, the O/U has two positives (speed and choke selections). While the BPS has one negative.

With that being said, I wouldn't feel at any disadvantage with my beat up old 870. I have enough shots through it (5k+) that I'm pretty quick on the pump. (Faster than some of my friends with semi-autos.)

If it's a pretty gun that funtions well, then keep it. I would rather shoot clay pigeons with a O/U than a pump. I'm actually in the process of aquiring a stoeger condor, so I might be a tad bias.

but but but the poles dont lie, it said keep the stoeger!!!!!!!!

lol

Good luck, what caliber is the win 94? and keep us posted on the shotgun hunt.
