These pics were taken by SMGLee at m4carbine.net. Sorry if they have been posted here before, but that was the first time I'd seen them so I thought I'd share them here. I don't know about you guys but I'm pretty excited about the 16S in black -- looks amazing. I read somewhere that they should be available by Q2 2010.

Nice! Would love to have the 17S, but for the expected price I think I'll go with a PTR91 and a few cases of ammo instead!

Eh...the black just doesn't do anything for me. The tan or gold trim is where its at :)

Been waiting for the civvie SCAR-H for a long time....glad to see they came through with it!!!

I'm not the type of person that always has to have the newest thing on the block, but I feel this is one exception for me. If I ever get stationed stateside, I will most certainly do what I can to get my hands on one (after price comes down).

Don't like it. It is fugley.

agreed, while it may be a high performing rifle, I don't need the adaptability. I've never cared for the ski boot on the back of the SCAR

Agreed, the black just makes it look like just another EBR. The tan gives it some character at least.

The 17S is hideous! Perhaps if that one was black it would look better:rolleyes:

the ski boot is sorta goofy looking, but quite comfortable. i like it.

i'll definitely be buying one this summer if the economy (or my economy in particular) isn't totally in the crapper

I was just about to say; why is there a ski boot on the end of a rifle?
does it have to look like that/does it serve a purpose to looking like that?
could not the bottom of the buttstock be wallowed out a bit, to get one hand to be able to hold around it, to be able to pick it up by the buttstock with one hand, or does the bottom of the stock being all fat like that , serve some
purpose?

I think it has to be that way because of the way the stock telescopes. The upper half of the stock is an adjustable cheek rest.

Did I read somewhere that the US Army Rangers were transitioning to this rifle from the M4?

SCAR-L was adopted by SOCOM as a general service replacement for the M4A1, with a smaller number of SCAR-H's in the force mix, though fielding has been pretty glacial.

Expected initial price for both?

I anticipate at least $10,000 on Gunbroker... hopefully this will at least drive the price of the current SCARs in circulation down.

The price gouging is already competing with the LWRC REPRs (supposed to be an excellent piston-driven rifle).

Is it supposed to cost over $1500 like all of the other new cool gotta-have-it guns? It looks kinda fugly but I'd like to have one, but I have a hard time justifying over $1000 for any rifle, and especially over $1500.

Surely they don't plan on the $2500+ of the Bushy ACR though. That is just an insult, lol.

The SCAR 16S has been out for over a year now; going rate is about $2500. The only difference with the one pictured above is the color.

Well that counts me out (forever) on picking one up. I just can't see how $2500+ is anywhere near justified... My M4gery serves me just fine.
